Where does Oweh show up on the projected draft boards? All the experts are saying if he tries the draft it will be a you need to work on xyz and go back to college. No one has him anywhere near the top 50+ prospects.

Also I think portal season is probably going to be the worst season for fans . There is so much misinformation floating around and fans buy into it and get their hopes up

It is not always easy to have trust and exercise patience.
There is plenty of time for Pope and staff to be judicious and thorough in their portal search.
Fans, as nervous, anxious and excited as they are, simply need to trust Pope and be patient throughout this process.
There will be plenty of time to evaluate and discuss here when the roster has been filled. Everyone looks forward to doing that.

Sometimes fans just vent frustration. You got a lot of good posters that this is their outlet to just get it off their chest if they get nervous. You have other posters who are toxically negative and that’s their schtick. Those are rare but they do exist. I’d just say not to lump group A and group B together because there are genuinely good fans who just get upset time to time. I think it’s cool if the entire board isn’t one opinion being repeated right?
Even if you take away those teams and just do teams in general . How many teams have a lot of commitments from the portal right now ?

Only 990 players left in the portal to agonize over....
Couple reasons.
1.) many of us know that a judge will be making a ruling on NIL at the beginning of next week. Once that happens, the nil players can earn will be capped. That means guys will want to get to their new school and their nil deals in place before next week. This isn’t going to be like previous years where big names keep entering weeks down the road.
2.) we’ve missed on nearly every top portal player we’ve went after this year and last year. The list of people that Pope is still targeting isn’t that impressive tbh. There’s only a couple impact guys left of the ones he’s looking at and I’ve seen nothing that suggests they’re coming here.

I think point 1 is way overblown. There’s no way, the portal is devoid of talent on April 8th. I bet you we land one or two more by then regardless.
I agree about the usernames we don't recognize. They come out when we lose a game and right now when recruiting seems to be in slow mode. Then you never see them any other time in the year. Strange how that happens, huh? I just try ignoring them and wait things out. I trust our current staff and know they'll do well with the roster.
There will definitely be some to decide after that date but I think the majority of guys that want big dollars (top guys) will want to be done and locked in before the 8th. For guys who don’t expect to make a ton it won’t be as big of a deal. Plus you may have a player or two who are really good but getting every possible dollar isn’t top priority.

On that note—the unknown gems are the reason I love the portal. Love learning about under-the-radar guys who have worked hard and now deserve a shot at playing on a bigger stage.

There’s some serious talent in the portal but most is already off the board. And wait? I think the portal closes on April 7 so that’s who’s in. Saying more will enter well maybe so maybe no. Leading from behind in sports will leave you following. You go and land the recruits BEFORE April 7th. When you’re a fan of this program and you’re losing battles for players left and right well I don’t see pope building a contender for anything next year at this point. We have a lot of needs and based on the roster numbers now we only need 2 or 3 but they need to be studs. Waiting and hoping for something well could be the defining moment especially if pope has Barney in his ear. Man I want to puke at the what’s happened to our program and the expectations.

A lot of the same people getting up in arms about pope being called out also defended cal and our ad as they ruined our program. Keyboard warriors probably jumped on the cal bandwagon when he was lighting it up. UK basketball is great because we innovate we lead. We done wait and yeah our fans will always look at the landscape and compare our program to others. The sec will continue to be stacked. I mean once auburn and florida or out or win it all they will be the go to school for the highest rated. That’s how it works. We have lost so much and in such humiliating ways the last several years that we have to regain the luster by winning big. Pope shows he’s timid and I think that concerns alot of UK fans. Remember. When pope was hired the initial reaction of the fanbase was “he’s not ready he’s not elite”. All of bbn melted down until Barney pulled some smoke and mirrors. The first reaction is always the right one especially if people have to talk you out of it. This was a decent season by UK standards steps backward another 10 loss season this period will be remembered. The fan base knew it when Barney did it but he shamed our fanbase to accept pope. I just can’t forget our initial reactions and pretend bbn wasn’t apprehensive to begin with and watching how this off season has gone with so many already off the board and pope taking a massive gamble with other players or waiting for Congress well I don’t think he’s the guy who’s gonna draw the top talent. The west coast guy is too laid back. That doesn’t work in the south

Yes - more active than others for sure. But a shell of what it used to be in terms of traffic. And that's my point, we didn't seem to used to have these issues until the last 5 years ago. So the quality of posters has clearly declined.
And the system stuff. You can’t land middle tier transfers and expect to win even if the guys are a fit. Duke does the same and they load up their system with talent that fits. That’s what we need. Talent.

No, you don’t know that. The fairness hearing is set for April 7. She could approve it that day, but it just as easily could be several more weeks. Also I think you’re conflating NIL and revenue sharing.
Barney should have been fired long ago for doing significant damage to our program through bad hiring and terrible contracts so yes he needs to go. Pope we will know this year. Whether he is right for the job. But it would be pointless to fire mark at this point unless we have a new cutthroat ad which isn’t happening. So we watch more 10 loss early out team next year then listen for more cry’s of mediocrity. Nate oats is growing sour at alabama. There are 3-4 elite coaches we could swoop up right now. 1 more season of 10 losses mid tier sec and early out is all I think bbn (and no this board doesn’t represent bbn only a sliver) will have had enough especially if our coach whiffs on every top tier talented player he swings at. He may get Braden smith for instance but that guy has a ceiling and while he would fit popes system he will get eaten alive in the sec. Especially against the big dogs of the conference. I can’t believe we can make that comment of “big dogs in the sec but we re not one of the big dogs. Pray florida loses because a title at florida and golden ain’t leaving. We have title caliber coaches and we can’t fill out a roster. Everyone pope takes to dinner turns us down. That should concern all. And the waiting until April 7th as an excuse and the comment “maybe things change maybe not”. Work under the rules there are currently and don’t worry about what might be. It’s awful. We re gonna end up with Travis Perry as back up pg. and this group of uk fans on this site twiddle their thumbs and tell us to trust a guy with no record of recruiting studs. He’s pursuing mid pack transfers. I’m not going to say it’s bad but it’s not looking good
Exactly I have been trying to that point across in every thread I've posted in. We need an upgrade in TALENT if we plan on taking the next steps.
To answer the OPs original question "What's wrong with this place"? It's simple, there are way too many people that don't have a life and live vicariously through UK basketball. They think that they have an idea what it takes to be successfull, but in reality, they probably never played or coach at any level above middle school and do not have a clue on how to assemble a roster or to manage that roster.
1.) So wait, you think the cap (if its adjudicated that way) will take IMMEDIATE effect mid-portal season and penalize the kids that dont sign with a new team early enough? Do you realize how ridiculous THAT sounds?
2.) Who have we "missed" on? Name the names, with proof, that Pope targeted those players and lost on them. How do you know who Pope is targeting? You don't, NO ONE does. Stop making shit up.
That actually all i said and what's happened. U6 has out recruited him thus far and people hate it. Silliness is your reading that and expounding on the future of what I might say one day. good lord. No one knows where we will be and if Pope does better then they won't be freaking out. But right now, that's my opinion of why.
The trolls are doing their best to get people upset and it’s sadly working with some people. Trust the coaching staff. They are going to get some dang good players. Be patient
