Should he choose to come back, fine but I don't see him as important to the team next year as Cam Johnson would be. Johnson's size, experience & outside shooting carries more weight than another "athlete" with no shooting skills.
Where is the confidence of Diallo when he refuses to show the world his basketball talent or lack thereof. I mean he really hasn't shown anyone much since midway his senior year in HS and what I've read it wasn't that impressive.
As i mentioned, if he comes back, hope he plays great but for my money I would rathwer have Johnson. JMO

Ouch OP, ouch...other worldly is the reason between Diallo and Cam.

I don't know. Just that he would be the most athletic player to ever play under Cal, he is a lock down defender, can shoot the mid range shot, and can finish above the rim like no one else in college bball next year. Cam is nice, but he is a back up plan to Diallo possibly leaving.

Bird in the hand. Technically he's still a Wildcat and who wouldn't want one of if not the best pure athlete in all of college basketball. He could have a huge impact without scoring much at all.

If he stays it's a win. If he goes and we get Johnson it's a win. What if Johnson is not such a lock to UK regardless of what Diallo does? If we get neither...

Because he would be the most athletic and fastest player on our team, one of our best defenders (which Cal values above shooting), has a little bit of experience in the system, and would help shore up a thin backcourt.

Also, I'm not convinced that Cam is a UK lock even if Diallo leaves.

There is no way Johnson can live up to the hype some people on this board are giving him. I'm sure he's a fine college player but there is a reason he's looking to stay in college a 4th year and Diallo is doing NBA workouts.

I think the fact that it is such a unique situation that has never been seen before makes people talk about it a lot. It something that the fans are very split on, so the threads about Diallo are frequent and robust.

OP would you have rather had Brandon Knight with his experience and shooting ability come back in 2012 and us not get MKG? MKG couldn't shoot either, but he was our best defender could shut down 1-3 on the court and we probably don't win the NC without him. I'm not saying Diallo is as good as MKG, but he is cut from the same mode and apparently is more athletic.

I'm into Johnson too. He's a 6-8 veteran who shot better than 40 percent from behind the arc in the ACC. Diallo is an athlete but you don't get points for jumping out of the gym and doing chin-ups on the rim.

Playing Johnson at SG is a stretch, for starters.

This.

And remember Cal saw Diallo pratice against good competition at UK for 5 months so if he did tell cam to take all visits before coming to UK which is the rumor than that means he thinks Hami is better or else he would have taken him during his visit.

Diallo is a better fit for what this team needs but we might get more overall value from Johnson in 2 years vs Diallo in 1 year.

We can't be sure how either player will fit into a whole new team,Johnson has college game experience, Diallo has experience in Cal's system.Diallo has athletic ability but evidently his basketball skills don't match his athletic gifts

Johnson has certain basketball skills(shooting ability) is not as athletic as Diallo,he has played at this level and will be ready to make a contribution early in the season.

All things considered based on the info we have Johnson is a better choice than Diallo if it is an either/or situation

Diallo can't be very good if he comes back. I mean after all he was only going to be a projected NBA first round draft pick. True, it was going to be at the lower end in the 20's without ever yet playing college ball.

Seriously, for me I still felt and feel until it is official that his jumping to the NBA without every playing a game at Kentucky was more of a black-eye to the program then something to be proud of. Yet, hoping if he comes back that then means a great player for us, obviously, and someone who does have the experience of the practices under Cal and can be a leader in that respect for a team lacking many veterans.

Would like to have them both but neither of them want to be here.
Diallo didn't want to play this past season & we might be his only option.
Johnson wants NC

You're like the people calling for Mulder to play over Monk last season. Bad opinion based on lack of basketball knowledge.

Do you even watch youtube videos of high school game play........His handle is the King of NY........something Johnson would never have. 6-11 wing span 45 vertical strong as and ox like a mini Lebron.......his shooting isnt maybe as good as Johnson from three , but he'll be the best slasher in COLLEGE basketball next year and a superb defensive player which Johnson is not.........maybe we'll get both , but saying you want Johnson because you dont think Diallo IS returning is a joke............maybe at end of season the joke will be on me..........NOT wake up Indy Cat do some research before you lit into the King of NY. He will destroy Johnson one on one he has more tools than home depot....

So you are saying he is only half as good as Lonzo?

Sorry, I didn't imply that we weren't getting Diallo but if we do I can only hope that he is all that you said he will be.
