What Would you Say Is The Bedrock Problem With Our Program?

We're last in the country in offense? Pretty sure we're just last in pace and those are two different things.

The pace criticism is legit but it's aimed at the wrong guy. We need to get rid of the shifts. They do nothing at this level and just add to 1) the length of the play call x 2 (from the oc then from the QB) and 2) run even more clock down than our naturally slow operation and 3) just give young guys another opportunity to make a mistake or have more to think about.

In cfb a shift gives you very little value but adds plenty of potential for negative outcomes. Just line up, motion, and snap.

Oh, and it ain't stoops designing those plays fyi
Agreed…..line up..maybe motion to show zone vs man and snap the ball. The shifts probably need to end. I feel the increase in motion penalties is correlated with players in stance longer before snapping the ball

But for all who wanted nfl style of play….this is what alot of teams do on Sunday vs Saturday. All the bunch Wr sets close to tackle, play clock burns under 5 seconds a ton, a higher percentage of passes within 2 yards of LOS as extension or run game and less true hand offs in run game, much more rush attempts in shotgun formation (Even in short yardage), not much usage of Qb in run game, outside zone run scheme vs inside run scheme …all with an eye for setting up passing game

Stoops deserves ton of heat for good reason. And I think White is getting criticism for a bad defense year. But some reason this fanbase can’t give Coen any criticism (it’s always Stoops handcuffs OC). Simply put …Coen is why Yenser is here last two seasons, Woodard is here as well…targets to Barion way out of proportion and we throw outside way more va middle field. He’s a talented dude but he’s had a crap year snd I hope to see him evolve as a coach as he need to

I come to this thread looking for bedrock problems with the football program, just see a lot of "MARK STOOPS" over and over again.

Because as we all know, UK football was doing just fine until Stoops took over.

Am I saying Stoops is without flaws? Absolutely not. But Stoops is not a foundational problem. A pitiful local recruiting base and a half century of bare minimum support that has only recently changed are foundational problems.

Again with this stupid crap. You actually believe we have had the ability to field an Alabama/Oklahoma type passing attack but Mark simply refuses? We have tried to throw more and you see where it has gotten us so far. I am not saying scrap the goal of a great passing game I am simply saying recognize the reality of the current situation. Did you think Levis and Wandale were underused in '21?
Show me where I EVER mentioned Alabama in my remarks please. EVERYBODY in the SEC is chasing Alabama and Georgia. Now, you throw in Texas and Oklahoma so there's that. I DO want to be as good or better than the rest. Tell me why that is too much to expect? Yes, I am critical of Stoops because of his REFUSAL to have an offense to score points and play at the pace of the way the game is played in this era...
If it's good enough for the GOAT and his brother Bob, does he think he's smarter than the two of them? Maybe Bob would come in as a consultant and help his brothers. This offensive thing is long overdue and time to stop with the BSing and just do it!
Three years ago, Nick Saban all but declared defense dead in college football. "It used to be that good defense beats good offense. Good defense doesn't beat good offense anymore," Saban told ESPN in October 2020. "Georgia has as good a defense as we do an offense, and we scored 41 points on them.

If you had to point at the most fundamental reason our fb program is unable to launch, where would you say “start here” with change?

Do we not appear dedicated to having a successful fb program to outsiders? And if so, what is it? Our crowds are great, good facilities. Our fanbase is highly-passionate, at least until it goes unrequited by the team. What would prevent another, higher-echelon coach from coming here? Just wondering if it’s the entire aura here, the combination of ALL things, or just one simple, seemingly insignificant point of focus?
What are you talking about? Some people have short memories. There is no "bedrock problem" with our football program. Our football program is not "unable to launch". On the contrary, we had 10-win seasons with important Power 5 bowl victories in 2018 and 2021. UK's first 10-win seasons since 1977. This year isn't as good, because the program has not yet gotten beyond the passing of John Schlarman and the implications of his loss for our OL. But the problem will get solved. In the meantime, people need to learn that competition is difficult and involves variable success.

Were you not the one that said he needs his come to Jesus moment like his brother and even the GOAT had to recognize? If not then I apologize my error.

I did, but that was only in the context that even two of the best coaches in the game and one that may be the GOAT, saw the writing on the wall about what it takes to win in the college game today. You think MS is half the coach either one of them are/were? I sure don’t and I don't think anyone else would say so yet we have a guy so bullhead it's ridiculous!! Do you?
