I've alway thought that any player that would go to UL because he can get free lap dances and maybe get laid on someone's dime is probably not the kinda player I'd want on UK. You are an athlete...you can walk by the sororities on campus and have girls willing to do anything "to help the program" legally and free.
Rick was not able to duplicate what he was accomplishing at UK, at UL for a reason. That title was just dumb luck, loisoville was about to

UK makes it harder to win for UL. the greatest program in this history of basketball is an hour down the road. It makes your program seem irrelevant to the rest of the country.

UK's fan base is world wide. Last year we had a bunch of just sports geeks nationwide jump on board the bandwagon because of the wining streak. Wonder what the gross sales in UK products was last year.

That head to head record since Cal has been there doesn't bother me at all. We both have the same amount of titles (1) in that time span. Cal should atleast have two more titles with all the talent he has had at uk brotha.

Really, they have gotten two. The second is, the program that is most made fun of, by national media.
You may not like it, but he is a HOF coach with two national titles at two different schools to his credit. Plus that 5th year senior who nearly beat us is looking pretty good. That will get you in a lot of doors. Given that he's having problems attracting the highly rated freshmen it's not a bad tact to take. I'm also not at all convinced the NCAA will do anything to UL. As long as the UNC thing is still out there I have no faith in it. They seem to be ready to punish schools like SMU on a whim while letting other's slide no matter what they do. We know which of those two categories UK falls in. Thank goodness Rick, Tubby, and now Cal have kept UK's program on the straight and narrow for over a quarter century. I'm not one to forget how strongly that was emphasized to Rick when he took over the program after the Sutton years debacle, and well he abided by it. Having been around for all I it I still appreciate what he did for us though I'll never forgive him for going to UL.
Pitino would be admired around here, except for the fact that A) he constantly lies about nearly EVERYTHING and B) he constantly makes snide comments about the UK fanbase. If those two facts did not exist, then I think you'd see a much kinder and gentler fanbase as it relates to Pitino.

This is not a recruit most schools would want. He has been suspended several times. Not someone Cal would recruit. However he is a perfect fit for Pitino and Louisville.
I've been amazed he hasn't recruited better at Louisville. That program has everything to offer to kids (HOF coach, incredible facilities, $$$$$$, huge/rabid fanbase)....................Competitive team every year,...... ACC opponents......,plays 9/10 deep(will get PT),.....Heal faster after injury,........ Shorter suspensions (24 hrs)........ plenty of cupcakes...........etc
His recruiting has been solid (and his results better than that), but I frankly feared he'd do better than he has.

Duke, UNC, and Kansas has all had the same talent. And once you get to the final four, luck plays a HUGE part of it.
Not only are the head to head games lopsided, but UK goes further than UL every year. Please don't compare the present or past history, you don't have a leg to stand on.
By the way, just curious. If you had a 5 star son, a kid in the top 20, and he was a senior in high school this year. Would you actually encourage, or allow your son to play for UL?

I'm not sure what the issue is with the 27 years between titles. Every basketball power has had a stretch of many years between titles.
UNC had a 25 year period (1957-1982)
Kansas had a 36 year period (1952-1988), followed by a 20 year period (1988-2008).
UK had a 20 year period (1958-1978) followed by a 18 year period (1978-1996).
IU is currently 28 years and counting.
Seems like I remember Rick going into the tournament as the number one seed before. How'd that turn out? Cal hasn't been beaten in the tournament by any school in Ky. Can Rick say that? How many has it been? How many times?
Rick will have been at ul for 14 years after this, his last year. Let's wait and see what Cal's record is after 14, shall we? Or would you rather take the first 7 of each as an example?
But, If UL gets penalized and or Rick gets fired, he can ask for a release and transfer without sitting out a year. Why would a 5 star player stay if Rick leaves and there are post season bans?
