** Proud of how they competed at Alabama and how they came out. Must be better in the 2H. Have to be better quickly. Take the lessons moving forward.
** Kentucky's "really good" with 2 weeks of preparation. "Extremely physical on both sides of the LOS." Offensively they can rush the ball. Play action pass. Defensively good against the run and physical. Special teams will be a big part of it.
** Asked about analytics for in-game decision making: It's a portion of the process but not the end all, be all.
** On why offense has struggled on 4th and short ... Just have to be better in those situations. Two critical fourth downs they failed to convert.
** Slow Ray Davis early at the LOS. UK's OL, TEs are extremely physical. Get a hat on hat. Must be violent, disruptive, gap integrity between personnel groupings, their shifts and motions, must communicate. When meet him must tackle well.
** Must start faster in the 2H. Liked the way they prepared, practiced, but must be better.
** Reporter notes they aren't as good throwing deep in the middle of the field. Heupel said could be protection, routes, winning plays, putting it on target, catching it. A little bit of everything. Thought they took some steps at time last week.
** Heupel likes how this UT team invests and prepares. They lay it on the line. They're disappointed with the result but you can't be strictly results given. That's how everybody views the game, they do too, but they play very hard. Emphasized a couple of times he really likes this team.
** Joe Milton ran some against Bama but the backs didn't have success. Heupel gives Bama credit for being physical at the point of attack and tackling in the open field. UT needed to be cleaner. But they know the type of opponent they faced. Must be better on normal downs and situations.
** Milton competed and fought through the game. Good decision making for the majority of the game. Was accurate. Made plays with his feet. Some was designed, some not.
** Never reset against Florida. Some unique things happened against Bama and they didn't recover. Have to focus on playing clean against UK.
** Reporter notes their two losses are basically due to two bad quarters. 1Q against UF and then late against Bama. Heupel said you show the players that on video, how subtle things make a difference. Series of one play sequences that make the difference in the game. Have to refocus. Don't have to be perfect. Don't want that pressure on them. But you must control the controllables in getting ready to play.
** UK does a good job of getting off blocks up front and the second and third level fits are good up front. They've done a good job of tackling in space. UT must be extremely good up front with OL and TE. Must run with a physical edge in this game.
