So I was thinking Sunday was the day that UofL had to report the games that would be vacated. Which would usually mean today, as the next business day, would be the day they would actually notify the NCAA.
However, in looking for more information, the Courier-Journal stated, "The NCAA, in order to decide which games will be vacated, has asked U of L for a report within 45 days that details what athletes were involved in which games. However, since U of L is appealing the decision, the deadline for the report will be pushed back until 45 days after 'the conclusion of the appeals process.'"
Even though the handbook doesn't allow for a stay pending appeal, the written report announcing the sanctions allowed for a stay. "This written report must be delivered to the NCAA media coordination and statistics staff no later than 45 days following the initial infractions decision release or, if the vacation penalty is appealed, at the conclusion of the appeals process."
It sounds to me like the C-J is slightly off. The written report is due at the conclusion of the appeals process. Now the NCAA may still allow for 45 days at that point. But you have to think UofL has already compiled the list of names/games to be vacated.
