What is the time and procedure on UL's appeal

I don't expect sympathy here. My point was that the "benefits" are things that most guys' crazy uncle gave them on their 16th birthday. I don't condone it, but I did have very similar things offered to me when I came of age. The righteous indignation is laughable.
Here it is folks, the perfect example of the UofL fan. Absolutely no moral compass. Win at all costs. Ends justify the means.

The main point of the UL appeal is the implied "value" of the impermissible benefits. Ms. Powells "madam" logbook implies around $5600 worth of "parties", and the book is handwritten, which is why there has been no grand jury indictment in a criminal court-there is essentially no evidence. Thus the focus of the appeal will be that millions in penalties are being assigned over essentially worthless benefits.
The monetary penalties argument is the biggest red herring ever. From the very beginning Rick Pitino was advocating that the only punishment should be a fine. He was mad that his team had to sit out the post season so he said it would be better if the NCAA just fined them.

If the NCAA came back and said, we will let you keep the "millions in penalties," but you still have to vacate the wins and take down the banners, and publish a report of your violation in all printed materials, recruiting letters, and main page of your website..... I doubt you would be in agreement with that. It's all about the wins baby.

They didn't care that Davonte Fields beat the crap out that woman and threatened her with a gun. Why would anyone think they would care about this?

The Louisville argument is this.

Real good argument there.[pfftt]

The only thing they got right is that the ones they hired were definitely not expensive quality ones.

As it turns out though, they were very costly. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Pitino offered to get you laid on your 16th birthday? What is in the Jefferson County water supply? Viagra?

Truly, a family member offered to take you hooking? First, I call bullshit. And if it's not bullshit, you come from a family of scum bags. No, most guys crazy uncle don't do that. If you think they do, tell your wife (assuming you tricked some poor woman into marriage) you are going to take her 16 yr old to a cheap hooker. See where that gets you.

Something is laughable here, but it's not righteous.

Can't believe some moron actually made that post. Guy makes UMM look like a brain surgeon.

Hancock says nobody is taking the title away from him. Is it possible UL will continue to recognize the title as theirs if the NCAA does not give it back? Why do they refuse to believe they used ineligible players? It is cut and dry. What is their argument?

If, God forbid something like this occurred here, I would fully expect UK to say "yep, we did it, we got caught, here's the games where ineligible players played."

If that meant losing a NC, then so be it, because it IS that repugnant, and every UL fan should bow their head in shame.

It IS cut and dry; UL ADMITTED it happened, period. I see no way they don't lose the NC banner, along with all the other games that are involved.

Also, if our coach took the stance that Pitino is taking, I'd be very ashamed of my coach, because whether he knew or not, (and there is no doubt Pitino DID know; where did Magee get the money?), it happened on his watch, end of story.

That entire athletics program is scum, pure scum, from top to bottom. If their Trustees had any integrity whatsoever they'd "drain the swamp" and fire everyone involved and start anew.

Once UL burns we can only hope the NCAA does the right thing and burns UNC to the ground as well.

Without a doubt, almost all schools would feel ashamed and take whatever is coming to them. It is pretty amazing seeing grown men blow off the immoral, unethical and cheating behavior as if it is not that big a deal everyone is making it out to be. It really does say something about their conscious as a human being.

Agreed, and I've never personally known anyone who had a "crazy uncle" who offered to get them laid.

There is no way you are this dense. If a crazy uncle did this there would be no NCAA violation. But since it was the COACHING STAFF at UL, it is an impermissible benefit. The same way if a crazy uncle gave a player $100. But a coach giving a player $100 is a NCAA violation.

Wow this is a new angle. Damn my uncles. None them bought me hookers when I turned 16. Your attempts to make buying hookers a normal occurrence for a 16 year old is really what's laughable.

UL fans just don't get it. Never have, never will. When Pitino banged Sypher it was no big deal. When Hurtt got the show clause and UL didn't fire him it was no big deal. When UL hired back Petrino when no P5 school would touch him it was no big deal. When hookergate broke out they called everyone a liar and said nothing would happen in the end no big deal.
Now they are sitting around saying I can't believe this is happening. Well what in the hell did you think was going to happen? When you continue to ignore and sometimes reward people that do bad things something terrible is going to happen. I personally am enjoying it. You reap what you sow.

First, I am making UofL's argument, which is the same argument we would make it if happened to us. Second, not sure what you are saying. Are you saying that the games the players played in would be vacated, or also that they would be forever ineligible with no chance to regain eligibility? If you are saying the latter, I disagree under these circumstances. But who knows how the NCAA would handle it.

I of course agree that the appeal will likely (and hopefully) do nothing.
Make up your mind Ky or Osu excuse me THE osu .

Nope. Although I am much more diehard UK, I went to both schools (UK undergrad and OSU law) and my family is all from central Ohio, so I grew up following the Buckeyes. But I also grew up following UK because I lived in Louisville. So...nope.

Very good points here and if it happened at UK, the coach would have been fired on the spot as soon as it was made known.. We wouldnt have to worry about the AD as we have a quality person as our AD and he would not tolerate anything like this. Pitino should have been suspended for the season and UL should be banned from the tournament in 2017-18..What they did was just God awful and the board should step up and fire Jurich and Pitino before the season starts and maybe they can get a fresh start and put this crap behind them..UL is a disgrace to our state. Very sad.

Ummm, I don't have any uncles who committed offenses such as illegal transaction with a minor when I was 16. What kind of depraved environment did you grow up in?

Your skuzzy coach and second rate program got caught. It was wrong. I know it. You know it. Your team played illegible players. Those games don't count. Happened to UK in 88. We took our medicine.

And finally, UL needs better lawyers and PR people. The "cheap whores" defense might be the most pathetic attempt to rationalize an illegal act I've ever seen in sports.

UofL's 45 days to give the NCAA the list of games to be vacated is up this Sunday. So we should expect some info on Monday, July 31st... I would expect.

Although UofL still has not put up a permanent link on their main athletic page explaining their violations/penalties as they have been ordered to do..... so maybe they are just going to ignore all of their responsibilities while they are appealing.

So I was thinking Sunday was the day that UofL had to report the games that would be vacated. Which would usually mean today, as the next business day, would be the day they would actually notify the NCAA.
However, in looking for more information, the Courier-Journal stated, "The NCAA, in order to decide which games will be vacated, has asked U of L for a report within 45 days that details what athletes were involved in which games. However, since U of L is appealing the decision, the deadline for the report will be pushed back until 45 days after 'the conclusion of the appeals process.'"

Even though the handbook doesn't allow for a stay pending appeal, the written report announcing the sanctions allowed for a stay. "This written report must be delivered to the NCAA media coordination and statistics staff no later than 45 days following the initial infractions decision release or, if the vacation penalty is appealed, at the conclusion of the appeals process."

It sounds to me like the C-J is slightly off. The written report is due at the conclusion of the appeals process. Now the NCAA may still allow for 45 days at that point. But you have to think UofL has already compiled the list of names/games to be vacated.

This timeline should put this back on the front page right about the start of the season. Nice move Turtleneck. Let me take a stab:

NCAA "eighty-sixes" UL appeal

Yeah the appeals hearing should take place around mid-October right around media days and the start of practice. The decision on the appeal should be announced sometime between Nov-Dec. If the banner comes down then you can bet ESPN will televise the first game afterwards and we will get plenty of shots of the empty space in the rafters. It's going to be a fun season.

Lmfao!!! You had a trick 'ho who used an underage daughter to turn tricks on underage recruits. Implied my azz.

This crap that the small investment yielded little or no returns is about as funny as Pitino becoming ethical.
