What do you do?

Time to let that excuse go son, Alex has been timid since the Duke game his frosh year. His offensive basketball skills have not improved and he does not have the intensity or desire to take over the paint.

He has improved defensively, although it didnt show tonight.
Yet he has seemed to show up against better teams. He will more than likely show up against KU just as the rest of the team probably will for that game.

I love Alex, but you're on point when it comes to his timidity. He doesn't want to dominate down low when he gets the ball. It's almost like a Shakespearean tragedy of some sort.

More like EKU, Boston U, and Wright State - those were the only double digit rebound games he has had.

His boxscores are headshakingly disappointing with the potential the kid has. I was sad just looking at them.

He's a HOF coach, he will have them in the Final Four

Still waiting for you to offer who you'd rather have over Cal. You've yet to ever answer that.

Pretty ironic that you like Born on the 4th of July considering it's a theme that deals with the promotion of truth, regardless of the cost. So let's have it; who would you rather have?

Box scores don't account for deflections and all the little things that can have a huge affect on the game.

HUGE - how many deflections and little things did he have tonight?

Our only senior, strongest man on the floor, tell me what intangibles you saw out there. Show me one time he even acted like he wanted to lead this team tonight.

Alex had no hands before the injury. He can rebound and play defense when he's not taking a play off (which he does several times a game). Lee or Skal can't handle the ball and god forbid Willis puts the ball on the floor.

I am actually curious to hear your opinion so feel free to respond, but what offense would you run?

I used the word system for simplicity, but it really isnt about choosing a offensive to run.

Its more about instilling better concepts. Letting players know whats a good shot to take & not. Trotting out more optimal lineup combinations that value spacing & fit.

- Actually get Skal involved in PnRs. He can't do anything in the post. His best attribute is his shooting touch, yet we see more post-ups from him than Js.

- Make it known to Poythress & Lee - no iso post-ups unless a big mismatch. Those two have botched plenty of post-up chances blowing possesions. They're unskilled, they should be taught from the start to not even attempt a post-up. But we both know Cal loves his post-ups.

- Stop putting out non-shooting lineups during critical times of games. So many times lineup combos have been bad creating bad spacing.

- Speed the damn game up. The players get yelled at for shooting early in the shot clock by Cal. It slows the game, makes plays timid & limits our possessions. Let go of the chains.

- More PnRs in general. High PnRs specifically, to create more space on the floor for the shooters around & the big who will roll to the rim.

Dear Calipari, its 2016.

Alex and Simmons played basically the same amount of minutes (25 & 26). Simmons had 14 rebounds Alex had 4 . I realize Alex has really limited offense abilities. But there is NO excuse for him to be so pussyfied on the boards ! I'm glad this is his last year .

Free throws. As bad as UK played, if they would have hit a reasonable amount of free throws, they would have taken the lead during the second half run. Missing all of those is demoralizing and kills momentum.

Brutal truth. His performance in this game was pitiful. He is soft with ball. Missed all his free throws. And then sulks when he is called for an obvious foul. I hope I'm wrong but he will never be what this team needs on a consistent basis and frankly never have been his entire career.

Reminds me a little bit of Roderick Rhodes. Physically he looks like a star, mentally he is just not.

You also said Murray sucked too, remember?
You're one of the biggest idiots to ever post here. I never said he sucked. I said he's a turnover machine who is also a ball hog a lot of the time. Ball hogging is fine for a great shooter but Murray is slightly above average. He scores so much due to all his shots. Every player in this class except possibly Matthews were either overrated or busts.

Top 10 recruit, now our lone senior and is not even close to being a leader. Bad hands, cant dribble, cant shoot. Goes for every head fake, teases fanbase with a big game once a month against inferior competition and now missing all of his free throws. As far from predicted potential as any Cal recruit until we see if Skal comes around.

Top 2 recruit, Top 2 predicted NBA prospect, #1 center prospect - amazingly frail with very little fight.

Number 1 guard prospect - can't shoot free throws, can't shoot jumpers.

Our best big still lacks basketball instincts and has bad hands.

Our best player is only 5'9 which brings limitations on defense and offense.

Cal his work cut out for him this season.
Yep. Gonna be a roller coaster this year.

Alex and Lee are role players and that's it. Skal is what he is. Either Humphries or Wynard give UK a post presence or this will be a short March.

You calling me an idiot is almost a compliment.

Your Murray - Goodwin thread was all about how bad he was.

Your first few sentences are so ironic. You contradicted yourself and defended yourself.

What do you do? You enjoy this year and wait till next year. I just hope we make the tournament. NCAA that is.
Hard to enjoy when your team is getting their collective asses handed to them.
I get it though...its the system and we had the misfortune of having 7 leave early followed by a down yr for great HS Seniors and reclassifiers.

I think it is more than that.

Our upperclassmen have killed us. If Lee and Poythress have average nights we win that game.

They both were timid and showed zero leadership. Dakari would dominate these two.

Willis is a junior who hasnt had much time but is not where we need him to be either.

You can have misses like Skal if your Junior and Senior 5 star kids play half way to potential.
