We need to learn Calipari isn’t the coach, Pope is. Some people really having trouble with that one. Maybe we start there lol
If you like mediocrity from your coach you should become a football fan. You will fit right in with the Stoops crowd.
That St John’s can’t shoot especially from deep
The problem is that we had gotten to the place where we celebrated going to the Sweet 16. It wasn’t the norm, it was an accomplishment.
That if a team shoots 9% from 3 and 28% overall you have a very good chance to beat them.
I'm glad he won two games for Arkansas. Hope they keep that arse there till he's 80 and he tries to make Brad his replacement.

That his gig of using UK as his NBA farm was over. He wasn't willing to do what was necessary at UK to win big, if it meant that one of precious draft picks was going to be exposed. At Arkansas he's only gotten this far because Kansas is in turmoil, and Pitino took out his best players.

Doesn't matter in the long run. He isn't sniffing a Final Four or Championship which is what matters and then all of his good players bolt for the NBA. Seen it, been there, wash and repeat. Good luck with that Arkansas fans. Not a winning record in league, no SEC Tourney or Regular season title and double digit losses.
That would be surprising. I can't see much prior performance to suggest we handle a quality team "quite easily" but hope you are right.
I sure hope you are right. I don’t have a good feeling at all for some reason. Maybe I just get too nervous but I want you to be so right. I want to look forward to a sweet 16 matchup again.
My first thought would be for others to learn to stop telling other fans how to be a fan. Outside of that, nothing is to be learned. I don't care about Cal or Arky. I wish them well and hope they have a great run in the tourney unless they play UK.
Calipari needed to show that he can still coach a little. He quit coaching at UK with that lifetime contract. Nothing more needed to do other than as someone posted to be an NBA farm. He forgot what his job was, and his ego would not let him be told by UK fans that he wasn't doing enough.

We beat Missouri on their home floor by 10 a week and a half ago. Missouri is a better team than Illinois. I just like the matchups today. But if they hit 15 threes obviously it’s gonna be tough.
We won by 8 and that is the one game I was thinking of. I just didn't know how easy you meant. I'm thinking like 12 to 15 points but if you mean 8 to 10 points I suppose it's doable. It would be nice.

I think Cal got humbled a bit (whether he will admit it or not) by losing the fan base. He’s used to be the darling. He seems to have changed some things. He didn’t force his players to the draft before they were ready. Not sure if they would have been drafted, but we watched a lot of Big Z, Thiero, Wagner types go in the 2nd round when they should have came back.
It seemed to me that the biggest fan of John Calipari last night was Rick Pitino.
He drew two teams that can’t shoot. His archaic style can still coach against that cause he’s usually got better athletes.
Calipari coaching Kentucky was the problem. That's over now. I'm happy to have Coach Pope. I would have been miserable had Cal stayed a day longer. So I'm happy. He nor Arkansas has absolutely NO bearing on my happiness or outlook on life. NONE.
All I focus on is Coach Pope and Kentucky.
Maybe that's the problem, since so many BBN fans still have their head up Cal's ass and somehow think they'd still want him here. Good riddance. The sooner BBN moves on from Cal, the better for them, I'd imagine.

I was very surprised to see Pitino get outcoached yesterday. I guess I shouldn’t have been. Cal has owned him. I guess I thought it was more of the UK owning UofL aspect. I really like Pitino. His UK teams represent my teen years and a very special time in UK basketball. He always gets his teams to play hard. I saw a lot of things that made me scratch my head though.
The game yesterday reminded me of the 1995 Elite 8 game against UNC because Pitino pulled his star player after he was having a HORRIBLE shooting day much like he did to Rod Rhodes. That was Rhodes last game as a Wildcat. Pitino was _issed off in the Post game presser but was trying his best to hide it.
Like I've said since the game was over yesterday, that was the WORST offensive team Pitino has had in the tournament as a top seed. You have to make shots to win in this setting, now more than ever before.

Honestly, I don't think Cal has changed much at AR. His post-game comments after the KU game were something like, 'I just told the team they've got to figure it out'. That seems to be his way. Sure, I'm the coach and supposedly know what I'm doing, but YOU have to figure out how to win this game. I've got nothing.
I believe that he was more motivated to coach this year than his last several at UK. But, from what little I've watched, I still don't see a fundamentally sound basketball team. His teams at UK never seemed to player smarter basketball as the season wore on. SJU had a woeful shooting performance which AR undoubtedly had a hand in. But, AR is not that good. If they are allowed to shoot medium range jumpers all day, they are a handful. If you force them to run the clock and hit long jumpers, they will struggle.
When most of the team's production leaves after this year, we'll see if Cal has changed his MO when it comes to roster building, which was abysmal his last few years here.

IMO, he felt like he was king of Lexington and got fat and lazy. Winning big was no longer his priority. It was getting players “to the league.”
He thought the early success would buy him all the time he wanted. I would say most fans were pretty pro Cal until 9-16. That season cost him a ton of goodwill. St. Peters the very next year made it so much worse and Oakland/mismanagement of Reed/Rob likely sealed his fate. Once he realized he burned up his goodwill with the administration and a majority of the fanbase, he left.
Cal has always been better as an underdog but a legendary bed shitter as a favorite. That’s why he’s doing well right now. Zero pressure and a burning desire to prove his critics wrong.
At UK, his burning desire turned to being intentionally stubborn to prove his “critics” (BBN) wrong as the program continued to suffer.
