Let's keep perspective.
Arkansas was a 10 seed. They were maybe 1-2 wins from being a play in team. Maybe 2-3 wins from missing the tournament all together.
They got an absolutely awful Kansas team in the 1st round. Then they got a St. John's team that can't shoot from 3. I've been a big believer that St. John's and Michigan State were/are primed for upsets because of their sub 30% shooting from 3 point range.
Arkansas was able to out-athlete St. John's. Hilariously, we lost so many games over the years where teams packed the paint and dared us to shoot 3's. I actually refer to it as the Calipari defense. And now Calipari won with the Calipari defense.
It helped a great deal that Calipari was stuck playing two teams with names he recognized. If this were a team called St. Peter's or Oakland, he would have done zero preparation and been caught off guard.
