Bull!!!!! You don't roll over an quit. I ain't no Buckeyes fan by a long shot, not even close. But bunch of whining pansies, need to get a grip. This is big boy football. Pull up your jock strap and let's play football til the last whistle. They ran it right down their throat, up the middle. No passing, not trick plays, just power football.

I liked it. The game lasts 60 minutes. You should play for 60 minutes.

I don't know where this idea came from where NOT TRYING is showing sportsmanship. If anything, that's a slap in the face to your opponent. If one football team wants to quit playing, then they should do just that. Allow the team to wave a white flag and stop the game.

And like someone above mentioned, how many times has Oregon absolutely curb stomped teams over the years?

GBB!!!
I agree Erik. Remember back in the old days when Oklahoma would bring in the subs and they would score on you until the end of the game and were blasted for it. I loved Claiborne but if we were up 40-0 at half, it would stay that way. If I am a sub I want to play football when I get in the game.

Except those weren't subs.

Oregon had no way of stopping the clock. The game was over.
Pretty sure they had timeouts left.
They had two timeouts left. Less than a minute OSU was inside the 5 with a fresh set of downs. They could have taken a knee.

IMO the taking the knee thing shows more disrespect than trying to score. I don't know why some think this is a show if respect. It always made me want to strangle someone on the other team and their coach. You cant stop me so I will show mercy and stop myself. Screw the mercy. If you are a competitor you would rather they bring it and try to stop them.
Agree 100 percent. Taking a knee is the ultimate insult. I would rather my opponent score a TD than take a knee.

I mi guess most of you guys that think taking a knee is the right thing to do also have a wall of 8th place ribbons from your high school days.

Coached 3 years under a 3 time state champ. Was the eye in the sky for our DC during a state championship game. What are your credentials?

Never heard a coach of a losing team say he was "insulted " or pissed about a coach taking a knee. Have seen many coaches act and seemingly pissed about a coach rubbing their noses in it with a last minute unnecessary score.

Maybe you should ask the Oregon players if they had rather be beaten by two or three TDs? Quite an honor to make it to the NC finals, probably feel better telling your grandkids you lost by a TD or two instead of three.

Have you posted on here before, 4000 posts and this is my first time noticing you.

Im certain you can ask any coach and they'll tell you its not the ultimate insult.....being a little dramatic there.

I went back and rewatched this again last night (had taped the game) and I stand by original position. Meyer coudl've easily kneeled on it and that was the ballgame...celebrate right there. He didnt have to score for his own gain. Really,. scenarios like that is where you can open up your guys to injury...never know what a sour grapes kid may do on the other side.

Whats the difference in taking a knee and dribbling the ball out at the end of bball games. I see our guys do it all the time....Teague even did it after the 2012 title...we had plenty of time and could've scored again. Is Cal some sort of pansy that insulted sports fans everywhere? Did he cheat the meaning of the game? Thoughts?

This is big boy sports. If it hurts your feelings when the other team scores, then you should stop them.

I think it needed to be done to make a statement. It takes away the "well, if this happened" argument because a three possession whooping means you are 100% better. Like another poster stated, it sends a message.

I have no issue with it. I find it more insulting that someone thinks my team and I are too pathetic that we're not even worth the effort.

You do know that you can get players injured in a knee taking situation if the defense is pissed and wants to hurt you. Defensive players are not worried about penalties in such situations.

I don't think any team should be upset if they get the ball ran in on them in that situation. If the opponent is throwing passes I would be upset.

I don't see your logic at all. If I am beat and the other team is trying to run up the score I am probably about ten times more in a mood to hurt that RB than I am to try to hurt a QB kneeling, and also about ten times less likely to get caught.

Kentucky had an opportunity to hire him as our football coach, but greed and dumb executive decisions destroyed all hopes of that happening.

Yep, that took a lot of cahones on Meyer's part, hope he gets kicked in them next year.

under this new playoff scenario isn't winning margin considered as part of the criteria in determining the higher ranked teams? i know we're talking about the final game, but if running scores up in regular season play is promoted why not continue it thru the last game.

An aside:

Urban was at my high school on Monday talking to Jordan Fuller. Younger brother of Devin Fuller WR at UCLA.

In Joker's last year, I personally told him of this kid when he was in 7th grade. Oh well.

Fuller has all kinds of offers and hasn't really done anything due to injury, but it's interesting to see that the big boys will gamble on potential. Rutgers offered him as a freshman.

It's an example of making a statement to all of college football. They could end up winning 3 or 4 more. The SEC is declining. You can't tell me that Oregon was the #2 team in the country. They got that azz spanked. GOD I hate OSU
I doubt it. They were lucky to beat Alabama this year, and would not have if Bama had stuck to running the ball. SEC teams will always give Urb close games and trouble as they are the only ones who can match up with OSU athletically.
^^BINGO^^
