Wenyen Gabriel at it again

I just don’t like this guy. Needs to let it go and move on, yet continues to sh*t on Cal and UK
Wenyen could put a positive spin on things even if he didn't much care for Coach Cal. he could say that he's "thanking his lucky stars" that Cal's coaching helped him get a job in a place where literally millions of young men would like to be but will never even begin to see. He's no great talent--he does have some attributes that make him attractive now to be in the league, but he's sitting on the cusp of getting bumped out by another player, either younger or older, and just plain better. In fairness, he's obviously immature, and being willing to and then actually posting comments like that--disrespectful to coach and program--brings potential discredit upon his parents or whomever was in charge of bringing him up and teaching him proper values, values that only a man's man would have. I could tell you in different terms than these how I might feel about him, but it doesn't matter and I do think he will grow up soon. I said and did some stupid things when I was his age; I too was immature, but my parents did instill in me proper values, and I knew when I had "stepped across the red line." If you've ever worked on an Air Force flightline, you know what I mean. Come on Wenyen, you can be better than that.

Jaden McDaniels probably isn’t the only recruit he’s reached out to especially since he reached out to a guy that he didn’t even know like that .

Why should Cal keep in contact with someone that’s making his job harder ?
He shouldn't. WG made his bed. Cal has helped make many an NBA career for guys. All Cal has to do is point at facts, not one opinion of a salty guy that didn't want to be coached and wasn't as good as he thought. WG is coming off looking like a child.

uk fans cant help themselves. this is red meat to them unfortunately. they HATE that he is looking for attention all the while tweeting him and messaging him on instagram questions that rehashes all this crap.

its sports...not everything works out all the time. most love cal, some dont. it happens. no one cares what wenyen thinks, he didnt cost us anything and wont.

move on....the only ones make this live on is uk fans.

Just read somewhere hes still commenting calling Rupp a racist
few quick facts about Rupp:

• He had a black player on his team when he was a high school coach in Freeport, Ill., before coming to UK in 1930.

• He was assistant coach on the 1948 U.S. Olympic team that won the gold medal in London with the help of Don Barksdale, a black player from UCLA. Barksdale has said some nice things about Rupp.

• As early as 1951, when an African-American named Solly Walker led St. John’s into Lexington, Rupp was scheduling non-conference games against teams with blacks. Nobody else in the SEC or Atlantic Coast Conference was doing that.

• In 1959, he offered Felix Thruston of Owensboro, Ky., High the opportunity to become UK’s first black player. Thruston turned him down because of the violence that was building in the Deep South. His brother Jerry, also a standout basketball player, told me his family had a good experience with Rupp.

• In 1964, when both the SEC and ACC were still lily-white, Rupp offered a scholarship to Wes Unseld of Louisville’s Seneca High. But Unseld didn’t have the temperament of be a pioneer in the Deep South, where blacks were being routinely kidnapped and hung.

• In 1965, black star Butch Beard of Breckenridge County told Rupp he was coming to UK. But Beard changed his mind and joined Unseld at Louisville when a stranger came to his family’s home and said he would be killed if he went to UK.

When it looked as if Beard were going to UK, Sports Illustrated sent Deford to Lexington, and he wrote a story that praised Rupp for leading the integration of southern basketball.

What should Cal do? Nobody wants that negativity around them.
Only negative if you make it so. Most people pay little attention to these type comments. In fact most of us would never have seen it if Bcat had not posted it on this board.

He clearly does not like Cal and did not like his time at UK. That's OK, every coach has some players who dislike him and not every player is gonna like it here.

But I don't understand why Wenyen feels this need to periodically remind us once every few months. Let. It. Go. I could understand it better if his story had an unhappy ending, but instead it had a a happy one, he DID end up making the NBA. Albeit not the way he wanted, he had to work his way up in the G-League for a couple years instead of taking the direct route, but he STILL eventually made it.

Not sure why he can't just enjoy that success without repeatedly reminding us of his bitterness over past issues.

I normally try to never attack a kid's character. Discussing play or tendencies, sure. Gabriel is extremely fortunate to have an NBA contract, as I think he is not very good, still. But, that's just my opinion. It's also my opinion that he should be grateful he played under a coach who goes out of his way to help his players, after they decide to leave. Cal never publicly shits on a kid. Gabriel should have kept his feelings to himself and been more professional.
