We are improving for sure. But let's do something we haven't done in nearly 3 decades before we start up the sec east convo (beat florida). I think that's doable. We are better than some of you guys seems to think we are. Two of the three most key games are at home. I'll be in Athens, Georgia on November 7th and it may very well be for the a trip to Atlanta.
I think people need to be realistic, but also stop having a defeatist attitude. We played some pretty good teams on the road the last half of last season. This kind of talk happened last year when we were 5-0. Look what happened. People need to realize we aren't there yet. Great to be optimistic to, but we have to win more games against SEC before anyone starts this kind of talk. Certainly fun to think but it's way way too early.
I agree with this. We haven't had a winning record in the SEC in 38 years. I think Stoops will break that streak, but I think we're a year away. This year is a major stepping stone and if we can get to 3-5/4-4 in conference and win our 4 OOC games, that would be great step up from where we were 2 years ago. It's a marathon, not a sprint....enjoy the ride!Wild, crazy speculations... that's o.k., this a.m.... we can enjoy the moment...
Realistically, too many weak areas in key spots that will be exploited by better teams...
Go CATS!
I still like Georgia in the SEC East, but I agree this season is setting up great for Kentucky. It sure looks like we have a better football team than Florida or Missouri. Both struggled yesterday. Jacksonville State took Auburn to OT and almost beat them. All 3 of those opponents must come to Lexington, and we have a solid chance against all of them. We get Hatcher and Flannigan back. Lewis, Forrest, and Stamps are great players. We don't have the best defense in the league, but I see a lot of upside in our defense as the younger players get more reps. Georgia will be very tough in Athens. I would not bet on Kentucky pulling that game off, but it is not outside the realm of possibility. At this point, I honestly think our offensive line is the key to our season, and I am still not sold on them yet. If they perform well, we are as good as anyone. We are better than some of you guys seems to think we are. Two of the three most key games are at home. I'll be in Athens, Georgia on November 7th and it may very well be for the a trip to Atlanta.

I respectfully disagree. I still think the East runs through Athens. Bama is probably a loss but besides that game, the dawgs will be a very tough out.I don't know who wins the East, before the season I felt like we had a very good chance to win it, I expected our qb play to be an improvement over last year, but I have been proven wrong. All anyone has to do is put 9 in the box, man up and play our WR tight and our qb will throw it away. Players are publically speaking out about it, offensive staff is too afraid to take a risk to be great, had rather sit in a conservative shell and be average. We are playing a 1970 offense, really frustrated with this to the point of not watching anymore, bout time for deer season. Our ceiling this year is 7 wins. We can't beat UT because we can't score with them, we will be lucky to score on Bama, SOS beats us every year it seems and I am afraid UF may have found their coach, I don't think we can score with UK if you can stop the run, AU is a tossup, their qb doesn't seem to know what color they wear. Bottom line is against us, forget about anything more than 15 yards deep, play tight man to the inside shoulder because we won't throw an out, just a short slant, keep 8 or 9 in the box no matter the down or distance. One more thing, we don't run anything outside the tackle, nothing, we ran every running play except a reverse through the A or B gaps. Its pee wee ball, except they throw more.
So East is wide open, I just as soon us not win it so we won't get embarassed in the SEC championship game.

The problem is we we'll not put 9 in the box no matter if it's obvious. While you guys may not have a QB to win a championship it's most like better than Perry Orth & I'm certain he'll see progression later in the season...
Our defense played prevent D last night especially in the 2nd half and it almost cost us... we were very lucky in some situations down the stretch but they came up huge in the red zone.. That's definitely an improvement.
The good news is that we should only get stronger when we bring back Hatcher/Flannigan which will hopefully be the next game?

Looking at our schedule, I would call every game winnable. I'd say it's very, very unlikely that we beat uga in athens, but other than that, there's no reason we can't go into every game confident we can win.
That being said, we've got a very important game this weekend that kind of hinges the entire discussion.

We are not gonna go from 6th place to first in one season. That doesn't happen. But we could finish in the top half of the division.
I'm still not sold that we beat UF. They have a great defense and I think they are gonna be ready for us. People having been calling for their upset since early this year.
I actually think we get Missouri. Should be able to get Vandy.
Georgia & Auburn are probably out of the picture.
Miss St definitely looks beatable.
Tennessee is probably too far ahead of us right now.
I think it's great the fans talk about success and dreams of championships. That is what this board is for. I just hope the players are thinking about one thing-Florida. To be honest, I was hoping UK could get a split of the Carolina/Florida games. Now I'm greedy and want both.

It's hilarious, but you are right. We have a good contingent of Kentucky fans on this board who studiously follow recruiting classes, player development, and other strategic aspects of year over year program improvement. But most fans live and die with each game, without understanding steering currents around the program. Wins can lead to irrational jubilation. Losses can lead to other forms of insanity. It helps to understand the main forces at work.Last week people were jumping off bridges...this week they are booking tickets to Atlanta. Wow.

I'm hesitantly with you. With that said, I'd like the see how we stand against Florida and Missouri. You'd have to agree, we've yet to put together two good halves in a game. something we will need the do game in and game out to take the East.We are better than some of you guys seems to think we are.
