We’re better without Hagans

He's just not at a level where he can make enough good decisions to win you a big-time game. The ball sticks in his hands on offense, he can't shoot, he can't finish, and he'll throw 3-4 random passes a game that leave you scratching your head.

He needs to either play off the ball (I know, not the most promising thing given the lack of offense) or be a backup. I don't think it's an over-exaggeration at this point or an overreaction. Juzang spaces the floor so much better in an already clogged halfcourt with two bigs in the lane most of the time. He lost us this game. Plain and simple. I hate to rag on him, but the game changed when he came back in. I'd be curious to see his plus/minus in this one. It has to be horrible.

I honestly think he is overrated as a defender as well. Getting steals does not make a defender. Was in the wrong position multiple times tonight.
Barnes calls a timeout and runs the white kid off a screen and Ashton is trailing by 3 steps. Surprised me he didn’t shoot the layup. Then he comes down and loses the ball for the backcourt violation.

I love how yall pile on the guy. The team quit playing before he came back in, the momentum was lost before he came back in. While we are speaking to the lead going away, Hagans had 1 TO and 1 steal the rest of the game. Maxey had 2 turnovers, and Maxey and Quickley missed a bunch of shots. Hagans isnt the reason we lost, the entire team is at fault. They all quit playing.

1 turnover???? He had 2 within two plays under 2 minutes.

He’s jealous of the pick nick/pick quick and feels he’s being left out. Maxey was dominating the whole game with Ashton on the bench, he comes back in and the 17 point lead disappears due to his selfish takes and bonehead turnovers. :flush:
Another guy who isn't happy is Brooks. He and Hagans both were pouting tonight.

TO at 7:33 left, and 1 at :39 left. Didnt include the one at :39 because the game was already over, and the 17 point lead was gone. Look, I didnt say he played well, he didnt. But he isnt the reason we lost. The whole team quit like they thought a 17 point lead was insurmountable with 16 minutes to play. They gave up 47 points in 17 minutes, most of which was Pons and Fulkerson, not 2 guys Hagans was guarding.

Maybe we should run a campaign for Hagans based on his layup and 3 point attempts - #PickBrick.

You cant just not count turnovers? Makes no sense. He lost the ball at half court when we were down 4 for a backcourt call and got in the air and threw a pass to viscovie, instead of to Richards.

Run down of the end of game. We are down two he misses a three. Tennessee time-out. He gets burnt on a cut leading to ponns 12 footer. Then gets the backcourt violation directly after that play.

Crazy because Hagans played a fairly solid game against Auburn. He played pretty much the complete opposite tonight.

Brooks and juzang both were nowhere to be seen while the others stunk it up. Typical cal shitting down his leg when things get tight.
Cal “forgets” about guys late in games a lot. Once we got down 4 late in game and offense was going nowhere, why not put Sestina and Juzang in and give the team a chance to shoot a 3? UT was not letting Quickley near a 3-pt shot, and we didn’t run anything the last 10 minutes to get anyone an open look. (Except Hagans, who UT was hoping would jack one or two up)

Brooks took a blow to the head/mouth Im pretty sure didn't return. Juzang was about as good defensively as Richards was tonight. UK had 4 players play solid D. Only Maxey played well offensively other than when Juzang shot it well in the first half.

Yea, don’t play juzang who’s shooting great because defense. Not like we gave up 50 in the second half or anything. Oh wait

We just have to hope he can turn it around. A few weeks ago we had a thread with about 20 people saying he was cals 2nd best pg here behind Wall. He isn't going to be that, but if he gets back to how he was playing a month ago we can still make a run.

Very puzzling how Juzang torched UT in game one and was on the court for much of the 1st half of game two where we built an 11 point lead, but got precious little time in the 2nd half.

Has Cal explained what he was seeing that no one else saw?

One of cal’s biggest downfalls (see baker /hagans in elite 8 last year, harrisons against wisky). He trusts his “guys” a little too much.
