I chuckle at those who assume the $10 million/man must have some type if evil genius intellect that will result in us waking-up to a championship-level roster of retained players, transfers and new-recruit freshmen.
The Kentucky Wildcat men's basketball head coach is a genius at one thing.....cashing his check.
After that, it is a game of Cal playing darts blindfolded and hoping for the best owing to AD's equally dimwitted lifetime contract.
"Good luck Big Blue baseball" and "Bring on the Wildcat football," because the cyclical disappointment that is "Gold Standard" Kentucky men's basketball looms on the horizon.

There are close to 1500 D1 players currently in the portal.
Cal needs 3. Or 4 at the most.
He is picking and choosing wisely knowing that whomever he signs, Tucker, Jones and the usual media grifs will prop them up to be the perfect pieces to fill out the roster.
And then the usual RR suspects will go hog wild and pig crazy drooling over the high and mighty Cal.....
The team will go to Canada, Chin will "coach" them by allowing them to play free style AAU basketball (which they are very good at).
There will be post after post about winning #9, and probably some 40-0 posts (looking at you HH).
And then, and then........Cal will get his hands on them.
And we know "the rest of the story".

I don't think he wants to be fired but making UK willing to pay a large buyout amount to get rid of him. He definitely not acting like he wants to be successful as UK's coach.

I do believe he has waited to see what Reeves, Livingston, and Oscar will be doing on May 31st. My only worry is that he is letting a Freshman or two dictate on who we bring in next season. We all know Kentucky could use a Power Forward and another Wing that can shoot. We have seen some of the players withdrawing from NBA draft this week. These Players in the Transfer Portal that could help UK like Grant Nelson(PF) and there are other PF's in the Portal. David Jones, Tyler Burton, and other nice wings/shooters in the Portal that could help UK next season. If we could get Reeves and Oscar back and Cal get a PF like Grant Nelson and a Wing/shooter like David Jones to go with the 5 Freshmen this team could be a Final Four team next season. That would also put UK at 10 or 11 players to start the season.

This is a great day for you, right? The basketball team/roster being in disarray, Cal underachieving in the tournament (again), losing players left and right....yep, all is well. Cal is our guy.

Calipari was working miracles that year. Hang a banner with a 9 at the top for wins and a 9 at the bottom for million's. I know you want Kentucky to win. I know you will support the team and coach no matter what. I know you will not bash team or coach, as you are a real fan. I get it. I still would like to know when it will be enough for you to actually say Cal should go? I’m not saying that you should feel that way now. I mean, lots do, but you obviously don’t bow to group think, and I commend you for being strong in your beliefs. But what would it take, more than we have already seen the last few years, for you to say on this forum that Cal should go? I’m honestly just curious how supportive you are?
Easy question I have answered many times. When UK has another coach, I’ll support them. Otherwise I am not a big enough idiot to bash my team in public. They have enough issues with the fanbase slinging crap at them
So there are 1500 players in D1 still in the portal? How many of those did Cal even look at prior to college?
I got a good feeling probably none of them despite having one of the biggest budgets to work with.
So this year, its looking like each player might have their own personal coach. But there's still time to use a couple more scholarships right?
