Was the roughing the punter the most miraculous play in UK football history?

Think about it. Tackled, Mizzou would have had it inside the 5 only down 4.
Blocked and it could have been a TD.
No roughing and Mizzou would have had it at their own 20 yd line on the desperation punt.
All 3 of those scenarios, when you factor in the mo Mizzou had and would have had and we lose.

I have never seen anything quite like it.

I think it absolutely is.

Instead its a 15 yd penalty from the original line of scrimmage and a 1st down! About 55 yds of field position!
😎

It was the right call. Fantastic play by Goodfeller
Not challenging the call at all as it was correct.
Im just calculating everything that happened on that play:
Time
Score
The 40 yd snap over the punter’s head;
The fact it wasn't deflected,
The fact it wasnt blocked,
The fact Goodfellow wasn't tackled and had the wherewithal to pick it up on the dead sprint, turn and get the kick away….
Then the roughing; if the guy lets him kick it, Mizzou has it at their own 20.

If you live to be 100 yrs old you will never see anything quite like that play again!

Miracle Play that for all intents and purposes sealed the win for UK.

I’m “Colin” it right now! Its the most miraculous play in Ky football history!
Colin truly is a Goodfellow!

Our player was remarkably cool under EXTREME circumstances. His ability to pick up the ball and get a punt off averted disaster. The penalty call changed the game. (Correct call) We all wanted to win in a more decisive manner, but I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day. I hope Goodfellow is OK!

It was the correct call.

at the same time I could see them adjusting the rule to “in case of snap over the punters head he becomes a live player (still capable of punting but non protected in the kicking motion). It makes it to where the smart option is to fall on it or kick it out of the endzone

Absolutely right! Even without the penalty though, he got it out to about the 35-40. I think our defense would have held them.

Idk if it’s even the most miraculous play in the history of the Mizzou series. The PI call & TD pass with no time on the clock in Columbia, in 2018, was far better, IMO. We actually made something happen & capitalized on that play, directly, to win the game. Today, we were bailed out by a penalty, after yet, another ST blunder, allowing us to back into a win, rather than seizing an opportunity. It was a botched snap in crunch time. I can’t spin that into a positive just bc we got lucky.

Had he made an attempt to run with the ball he would have been fair game. But you’re right, it was a call that we would never ever get but we got it. But it was the correct call.

You just reinforced my argument, it was a miracle play.
