Vanderbilt injury?

He was having a hard time jumping in the all star games before the injury. I hope we get to see his full potential and it's not another Harry Giles story
That's just a blatant lie. Vanderbilt was thriving in the All-Star games, which is why his ranking rose.

What, do you think that there aren't people on here who actually watched Vanderbilt in the All-Star games, and you could sneak in a line of complete BS?

No,no it's not a lie.
I never said he didn't thrive in the all star games. I watched every second he played and yea he looked good. What I said was he was having trouble jumping. He laid the ball in while wide open for crying out loud. He received a lob on the baseline and wasn't able to get up high enough to dunk the ball and it was decent look. He was definitely favoring his ankles.
By the way,his ranking hasn't risen. He's been nationally ranked in the top 10 of his class since he was a freshman. His injuries dropped his ranking some

He probably has a terrible injury, but he'll still leave for the NBA without playing a game for us.

And, we will have the same posters saying its great.

And we will have the same posters saying what an awful human being he is for using UK to further his career without playing a game.[eyeroll]

You're such a great UK fan.

Does any of these guys ever have a dream of winning a National Championship at Kentucky?

I find it absolutely humorous that grown men trash a kid for jumping to the NBA. If you had a job, that didn't pay you a salary, and another company came along and offered you 3 million a year would you stay at the job that pays nothing out of loyalty to help the current company reach Fortune 500 status?

This is basically what you are asking these kids to do and there is no way you would do it yourselves. It's quite hypocritical if you ask me.

IT happened in the final seconds of the Jordon Brand Classic, he was hurt with a few seconds left and he couldn't walk on it. Had x-rays and went home. After I know Cal went buy for a family visit and nothing has been said form coach Cal or his family since.
Guys this was the right game wasn't it I know everything else is OK and right, still no word!

I know one school of thought is the injury is more serious than they are letting on, but what is the end game in hiding that information? It would come out eventually.

His 247 composite was closer to the 20's before the all star games. Now it's at 11. Seems like he rose in the rankings following the all star games.

If he is still injured, Cal will not reveal it. He protects his players from as much scrutiny as possible.

Cal keeps any news that would harm the perception of the kids NBA potential top secret. It's another reason why we get the top recruits. They all know Coach Cal will ALWAYS have their best interest as his top priority.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

There are a few days of practices involved with both the Mickey D game and the Nike Hoop Summit. The reports out of both those regarding Vanderbilt were absolutely glowing, with 0 mention of any lingering injury problems- something that almost certainly would have been a topic for discussion. His ranking on ESPN and 247 prior to the All-Star circuit were both in the 20's. He's now 18 on ESPN, 11 on 247.

And whatever "not dunking" thing you think you saw was pretty invisible to me watching the same games.

What do you mean by "out and about"? Hell he hasn't even gotten on campus yet. I haven't seen Nick Richards, PJ Washington out and about either. Oh no!!!! That's a bad sign...
I mean he hasn't even made any public appearances to be questioned let alone done anything else. The others all had Bamba quotes and this and that but ole Vando has remained silent ever since the injury. There is something up with the injury and I feel Cal is protecting him from the real world.

Explain. I'm not saying the injury isn't worse than they are saying, but what end does it serve to cover it up? If it's bad enough that he will miss some of this season, that will come out. What possible motivation is there?

mj2k10 I back you up here he was excellent in the all-star games. One of the well known evaluators said he should be in the top 10 in the final rankings. Some reason he didn't move that high but I thought he should have.
An amazing athlete, good handle , good speed, gives up shots for a teammate that has an easier shot, likes to run the floor, dunks with ease and a good shooter that will surprise most!

Look like he can dunk just fine to me....

247: 8
Scout: 11
Rivals: 13
ESPN: 18

I think it could be a bad break. Heck it could be an acl/mcl and there is a chance he could get back by November. The purpose of hiding it would be so that teams don't think he's injury prone or has prior severe injuries that would hurt his draft stock.

Hunter1 the injury was to the foot not his knee. I said above he was holding his foot grimacing in pain. Two trainers helped him up and he could not bear any weight on it. X-rays were taken and he returned home to Texas. Nothing said or any article written since then that I know of!

Check out his comment 2NITE on Joel Justis' twitter..... "Can't wait to get to Lexington" !

Only injury I think that would put him out for a serious time to jeopardize next year would be like a torn Achilles. Even a broken foot or ankle would be heeled by Nov

It's still May. People worry too much about an injury 6 months before the season starts.

After his injury in the all star game his dad said the doctor told him to just rest and stay off of it a while. Mr Vanderbilt said Jared has done nothing since that injury to ensure he is ready for UK.
