I tell you what, I'm impressed with Vanderbilt, they will not go away. They play hard, they run good stuff, their defense is not making it easy for Bama to score and they rebound well.

Bama is up 19 now, but Vandy keeps coming back.

I really hope Pope figures something out to change the narrative on defense this week. We are dead last in a lot of categories. We would be last in a lot of other conferences too. That's kind of disturbing.

Not watching but the first paragraph did not have me expecting the second one.

Yeah, they had a bit of life for about half a second and then Bama snuffed it out. Regardless of how good they are we have to play in that abomination they call a gym. Our best teams have always had a hard time winning there.

Fighting their asses off to cut it to under 20 lol seriously OP

Got it to 8 and Sears draws a flop head bob foul call and then another on a push off where he fell down. Sears is strong but he gets a lot of suspect calls to say the least.
I tuned in and saw that and just turned it right back off. If he doesn't have a rubber neck, he probably sleeps in a frozen neck brace. Gets more calls (and non-travel calls) than probably anyone.

Can’t stand Sears. He gets away with traveling via jumping in the air and landing before he gets rid of the ball 2-3 times every game, as well as the stuff you mentioned.
Yeah. He does seem to be mighty good at getting rid of it before landing despite seemingly playing well below the rim…

And I’m not advocating for them to call offensive fouls on him but just no calls.

Agree...I watched that game and Vandy played in your face defense the whole game. They made every Tennessee possession painful- why in the world are we unable to do what most any other team can do? And it isn't that Vandy just has more talent and foot speed.

Yeah, I would understand it if our defense was middle of the road, but it's so bad, the ESPN analysts took the time during the MSU/UT halftime last night to highlight just how bad we are.
Our defense isn't just the worst in the SEC, it would be the worst defense in almost every power 6 conference and that's bad.
0-5 Arkansas has a better defense. I totally get we don't have 5 Deandre Liggins' out there, but when we are the worst defense out of 6 total conferences, it's not the players. This might be Pope's weakness.
On his call-in show, he kept talking about defending without fouling. I get that, but that's only part of the problem. We have to pressure the ball, play with our hands up, trap and get physical. Shoot, we may have the same problem next year, only with different players. It's a system thing.
