USC 98 Lady Cats 36

That miracle run in the 2022 SEC Tournament was the worst thing that could have happened.

There are 2 big time in-state recruits who are juniors with zero interest in UK right now (don’t blame them). You fire Elzy tomorrow. Name Gail G. Interim coach. Bring in Mitchell in a special role to try and creat a relationship with these recruits and try and make a big hire.

That has to be the most embarrassing loss in the history of the women's program? Doubt it will get much better. Arkansas must really be bad.

Yeah, one of them is 2x Gatorade player of the year in Kentucky. I graduated with her mom in HS. I don't think she ever had Kentucky in ANY of her school lists. Just a joke.

In general other than USC and LSU women’s basketball in the SEC is horrible. Look at all their non conference records and see they have beaten or lost to as well involved in close games with non power 5 schools. The Lady Cats beat Ark which shocked me. Then Ark beat UGA badly. Women’s basketball is losing a lot of great athletes to Volleyball which has become far more important At many schools than women’s basketball which is evident from attendance. Think about it. UK has been playing home games at Transy in front of 4-500 fans.

Either way, this is a college basketball state. You can't have a women's team losing by 60 to friggin' South Carolina. Their mens teams have always been awful.

Don't understand why she was picked a coach for UK Women's Program. They need to fire her tomorrow. She is clearly in over her head.

Yes UK has time as they’re both 2025’s! 💙🏀

Hind site is 20/20. Mitch pulled the trigger a little early on removing the interim tag, but she had been 2nd in command at both UK and UT. She just didn’t work out and it’s been obvious for awhile now. Mitch should have made the move last year when it was very obvious.

How much we paying her?
Not a good team and not a good coaching job by any means, but, I will give her lots if credit for looking much more professional in her duties as a SEC and Division I coach than USC's coach.

Sorry, but Dawn Staley is not my type of woman or person. She reaffirmed that point again tonight when, on national TV, she sported a green Michael Vick jersey. Wow! That certainly (by design) clashed with the garnet and black of South Carolina. So, just what in the hell was she doing by wearing that green jersey? What political statement -- Dawn is known for those -- is she trying to make there? What really is at work here, in my view, is that she's like so many who get to say or do what they want, when they win of course, and feel emboldened by that success to make whatever insipid kind of political statement -- in this case, some kind of statement of support perhaps for a guy who was heavily involved in the most honorable sport of dogfighting. So, she can't just let the game be all about her kids playing basketball, it has to be squarely about her and the Vick jersey.

Again, why? Why Michael Vick of all people. In fact, why is she wearing that kind of disrespectful garb on a national holiday that should be reason enough to come out looking great for your kids? Why? Well, it's when a highly-paid D-I coach chooses instead to bring the spotlight on herself for unknown reasons by looking like a commoner and taking the spotlight off of her kids. That's certainly not good leadership. That, in fact, is most embarrassing and a deed that I would certainly think is questioned by her boss (I'm not entirely sure every regent or every administrator at USC is comfortable with ol' Dawn's choice of wardrobe, but she and her team won by 62 so, hmmm, "I guess we'll just conveniently look the other way, shall we?" You have to wonder what she was really trying to "say." "It did leave me thinking, Gosh, who is the real winner here?" I think I know who the real winner was tonight, and I kind of know what Dawn was up to with the Vick jersey. Bad form Dawn -- really bad form. I'm curious to see what you think.

Coach Elzy tonight looked like a leader of women. She may not be the one for this job, as I like many of you have my personal doubts, but tonight, I was at least very proud of her representation of UK, as she dressed professionally, even in a losing cause, was dressed honorably and appropriately to the occasion of MLK Day, and looked a hell of a lot better than Dawn Staley.

Totally agree with professionalism. Coach Elzy does look classy . Neither coaches nor players should use their positions as a political or social platform. Cal has been very guilty as well. He at least has tried to look a little more professional recently.

They could always hire me, I guarantee I could get them to lose by less. What a terrible terrible hire. Extended her after that BS SEC run.
