USA v Iran game thread. Maybe official, maybe not

Man Washington is not what I was expecting. He is much more of a SF/PF than a true center. He looks much better facing the basket and driving than posting up.

After the benching Diallo and P.J stepped their game up in the second half. That's a very encouraging responses to adversity. Reddish looks ready to step into college and produce now.

P.J is going to look good as a stretch four for UK. I think Wenyen beats him out for PF with his defense, rebounding, energy and knowing what to expect from college competition though but P.J will still play a lot. The competition for that 3/4 is going to be intense

My short version of what I saw with opinions

McCoy-never saw a shot he didn't like
Diallo- the real deal gonna be good really wish Knox was there
Reddish- liked really good but I think he's puke blue all the way
Bol-skip all the slurping for bagley cause chances are he won't play in college and he will drawl it out till the final day. If you can get bol take him now! Excellent rim protector with a soft touch.

Washington- also played well. He's like a Patterson/draymond green hybrid. He can bang but he's athletic and can shoot a little. He will play 2-3 positions at uk and if wil be nice to have a guy you can rotate and do it all.

Lou King did a lot of good things--didn't shoot it great, but ended up with 9 pts, 7 Reb, and 5 assists. Kind of guy who makes winning plays that a team needs--deflections, loose balls, energy/activity. Can see why UK is recruiting Reddish/King as a package.

Initial impression is to replace Quickley in starting lineup with Carsen Edwards from Purdue. Quickley is overwhelmed a bit, let him get some minutes off the bench/confidence up. Edwards can make shots and spaces floor better.

Wiley is big/muscular but is god awful on defensive end (McCoy was best big on team in terms of defensive presence). He is going to be a great scorer for Auburn this year. His lateral mobility and slow to react defense is bad. He is a one ender, just as he was for them this past year.

Langford was not in after his 30 foot open gym FGA. Wonder if he rolled an ankle?

Reddish was as expected (I think he's #2 player in country with only Bagley ahead of him)

Once they get used to the rotations on their run/jump pressure they'll be really fun to watch.

Hamidou Diallo form on jumpshot is greatly improved. Scary to think of he/Knox/Vanderbilt/Washington on court with whomever else you want in terms of length/playing passing lanes.

PJ Washington is what I think UK fans wanted/expected Alex Poythress to be. He's got more ball skills already then Poythress does now--not the athlete that Poythress was but a better player overall. I love flexibility he/Vanderbilt will provide UK against zones being able to hurt defenses at top of key with their ability to drive/pass/distribute. I actually like Vanderbilt more in open court as a decision maker/leading break out of the two but that's not a knock on PJ--it's a compliment to Jarred. Going to be a really fun team to watch and one thing UK fans get spoiled with--Cal gives you different types of teams to watch and as a Basketball fan it's so fun to watch. Big/Small/Fast/Halfcourt, Defensive oriented, race up and down....press (This year's team can be his best fullcourt pressing team he's ever had)

Enjoy it!

If cal does offer King and him and reddish are a package deal like king says it might be worth the risk. Problem being, recruiting changes and not all guys follow through. I know that our wish list is Williamson first which is why I feel cal is holding out on king for now, even though Zion is more of a pf
