UofL Gets Another 5th Year Transfer (One and Done)

Lol, after the uk/ul game a poster literally said that if they can "get another 5th year transfer" they should be able to hang with some of the oad's against uk next year.

Pathetic they need to rely on 5th year transfers.

I watched his highlights, Fox and Monk will eat this kid alive.

Well despite the hatred, it is an interesting situation. Lee almost beat us as a 5th year senior transfer. Many here pre-season were suggesting UL was through or we got the better deal with Mulder as a 2 year transfer player. Turns out that a very talented 5th year transfer can make a huge difference. So, what's the difference in a one and done freshman or a one and done experienced graduate? It seems getting talent is the ultimate goal.

But I thought Rick and the cardinal fans don't want players who are only on campus for a year and gone before they get to know them. One and done hypocrites. He will barely have a chance to know Katina then be gone.

If I was a UL fan I would want them to go full throttle on 5th year transfers if they can get players like Lee and Lewis. What's not to like about good, proven, experienced 22+ yr. old college players?

Remember that this kid sat out a year (still sitting out) because he didn't want to play for the new coach at Penn.

Been doing some reading and interesting enough, he went to the same high school as Charles Matthews.

Quality individual...

Penn basketball junior guard Tony Hicks has been suspended by the program for this weekend's Ivy doubleheader against Harvard and Dartmouth, Penn Athletics announced on Friday.

The suspension comes after the Quakers' most recent contest against Brown last Saturday. In that matchup, Hicks received a technical foul midway through the second half for something he said to an official. Following the incident, coach Jerome Allen sat the team captain for the remaining 6:22 of the Red and Blue's eventual 71-55 loss.

However, Hicks' suspension appears to stem from more than the technical foul itself.

"Tony did some things during and immediately following last Saturday's game against Brown that did not meet the standards of the Penn basketball .program," Allen said. "After reviewing the incidents earlier this week, I have decided to sit him for this weekend's games.

"I have spoken to Tony and the team about the situation, and they will learn from this. We look forward to having him back on the court next weekend."

Following the game with the Bears, reports claimed that Hicks had been involved in an incident in the handshake line between the two teams. It is unclear exactly what, if anything, occurred at that point.

This weekend's suspension marks the third consecutive year in which Hicks has found himself barred from at least one of Penn's games.

In his freshman season, Hicks — along with four others — was suspended for the Quakers' matchup against Delaware on Dec. 21, 2012. After the suspension and Penn's loss to the Blue Hens, a source confirmed that the suspension for the five players was the result of failed drug tests.

Late in the 2013-14 campaign, Hicks was suspended again, this time as a result of his actions in a game against Columbia on March 7. With seven minutes remaining in that contest, Hicks threw a right-handed punch that connected with the jaw of the Lions' then-junior guard Meiko Lyles.

After reviewing the incident, officials assessed Hicks with a flagrant-2 and he was ejected from the game. Allen suspended the South Holland, Ill., native for Penn's game the next night against Cornell before playing Hicks in the season finale against Princeton three days later.

Truthfully, guys like this are more 'mercenary'(for lack of another word)than frosh 'one and done'. With freshman there exists the possibility of more than one season, whereas dudes like these are in and out for sure. Plus they've given multiple years at another school so they really cannot be claimed as 'one of x school's own'. They are purely there to play ball, nothing else. Oh well, such is UL's lot in college hoops...suck it, Birds.

Can't wait to see this guy punch someone next year and get an "indefinite" suspension (lasting one game of course)....

Good points UK...Some people on here think only freshman are the way to go. I would love to see us get a 5th year senior that averaged double figures and has all the experience of college ball. Wish we could have gotten the Thorne kid to come here. He would have solved our interior problems and we would be a team to reckon with this year.

I saw today where he was suspended 4 times while at Penn, one for failing a drug test in 2012 and one for punching an opposing player. He should fit right at UL with their liar of a Coach. I believe this is one rule that will eventually be eliminated by the NCAA.

What kind of idiot goes to UL in the middle of an investigation?? Unless the kid knows Pitino isn't going to be the coach next season, then kudos to the pot head.

It probably would be a good idea if we took a couple to help with our freshmen. Add some needed maturity

May be a good pickup for them, especially since they cannot recruit high school seniors, any longer.
ESCortino cannot recruit quality players ..He takes cast offs attacks the media at press conferences...anyone think Brother SEXtino is losing it..The pressure will crack that scumbag like a walnut.Wait til uavel goes to Duke..Posters Chants banners it will be open season on Ricky..but Turtleneck is willing to sell his morals for what fleeting glory there is left ..sad.

Louisville recruiting class rankings (Rivals):
2013 7th
2014 7th
2015 9th (not including Lewis and Lee)

Yep just terrible recruiting.

Wait a minute, didn't Pitino say how he would hate to only have a player for one year bc he wouldn't get to know them.

Rick's going to show him the best italian restaurants and the dorms. He will get to know him well.

I see no difference in taking a 5 year transfer than a 5 star OAD kid. They both want a shot at the NBA.

The thing to remember. A 5th year 3 star player is as good or not better than a 5 star Freshmen at the start of the season. As the season progresses most 5 star one and dones become better. That is why you see teams get upset early that look to be loaded with talent.

Not against the rules and their version of o/d looks better than ours this year

Yes,that's what we need trouble makers eligible for one season, people complained about freshmen one and dones.now you want to stoop to playing 25 year old mercenaries with past histories.

Kentucky does not need this,UL might stoop to win at all costs,UK gets all the talent they need every year, every once in awhile it will be below standards, big deal, this years team will be fine or we'll have an average season, not the end of the earth either way.

Well then why can't Rick win with those stellar recruiting classes, LOL! He's such a better HC according to you'll, so if he's close to our talent, then he should winhands down according to your warped logic, esp since your "star recruits" stick around for four years and go undrafted.

Rick has never had anywhere near the talent as Cal. There has been almost 30 McDonald's all Americans and almost 30 nba draftees since he's been at uk. Rick nowhere near that, not even close.

UK gets all the top ten kids every year so what's the big deal about UL getting a fifth year senior that no one has even heard about?

Just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean they aren't good players. He has gotten 2 very good players this year. I see no problem with the graduate transfers. They are doing the university a service and the university are doing them a service, just like the 1 year OAD
