***UNofficial Kentucky vs. Gonzaga Thread***

I thought Tennessee was the nail in Cal's coffin. I was wrong, it's today. Kentucky basketball is very rapidly becoming Indiana. If they wait too long to fix it, then there may be no return to the throne.

He is stealing money from the university, Barney.
This Is Fine GIF

Again, we are supposed to be loaded with talent and a hall of fame coach, and we are getting run out of our own gym by a less talented team. The whole country is loving seeing Kentucky getting beat.

I know we get scored on a lot inside but why does Cal teach our guys to leave their man on the 3 point line? Constant wide open looks. Anyone can make those shots
Most of Gonzaga’s 3 point attempts are wide open, not a defender within 5 feet. When the ball goes inside, ALL of our defenders collapse TOO deep. The ball is passed outside and we have 4 guys scrambling to get to their man. Two passes to a wide open shooter. Yes, you teach defenders to sag and help, but we sat way too deep. Also, our great quick athletes cannot keep their man from driving to the hoop. Overplay to your man’s strong hand and make him drive with his weak hand. CCC!!!!!

That was bad fellas. No rebounding, no half court offense, Stupid passes, bad screening, just throwing balls up to the rim hoping they go in.

Supposed to be getting sharper in February.

Hope they wake up

I feel like someone put duct tape on my chest hair while I was sleeping and yanked it off……
It hurts and would piss you off.

Kinda like the last couple seasons….

Gonzaga plays a tight rotation and their lineups make sense. Their playstyle is optimized for that core who plays.

Cal, on the other hand, subs in at random, basically, while trying to maintain a lineup with at least 2 players 6'8'' or taller. That's about all the thought that goes into his decisions.

The wide open threes need to stop. I can't imagine Cal isn't emphasizing this because almost all of his previous 15 teams were at LEAST good at this, sometimes elite.

Are these guys just not all that coachable?

Credit Gonzaga’s players. Been told they are a bubble team and this might be their last shot to build the resume. Then, their grown men start wiping their cracks with our little boys for the entire world to see.
That’s what well coached teams do. Funny thing is… it’s not even hard to do anymore.

UK could realistically drop 5-6 games in Rupp this year… think about that!

"I still like my team."
"I'll have everyone sign a piece of paper to prove they're locked in."
"If we play like I know we can, nobody can beat us." (LOL.)
"Don't jump off the bandwagon."
"This one's on me." (Then do something about it, dumbass.)
"My dog is about to pass away."
"We'll be fine by March."

Get ready, folks. And we're supposed to believe there's no one better for Kentucky out there.

Why does Reed continue to get a pass for never showing up on offense but DJ and Edwards get bashed relentlessly?
Explain to me how in the hell he is projected top 5 pick? He gets steals, most of them come because he is out of position on defense.

Getting destroyed
They're toying with us. Like UT did. Our spacing is so poor on both ends of the court, and when we've got the ball it's either Wagner / Reeves for a drive into traffic, or a kick back out to the top of the perimeter for more clock wasting. Cal refuses to play a zone in an attempt to force these kids to stay put.

Lineski, this is game #23. There's no excuse anymore when it comes to players "buying in." This is on Calipari. If they haven't bought in, that's a Cal problem.

Zag have 3 players in double figures at the half. Cal substituted too much because he doesn’t have an answer or a damn clue.

Zags shooting 3/14 21% from the arc or we'd be down a lot more than 10...

Rome is burning.
They shot 46% overall tho and we shot 32%, that's the only difference in the game. It all comes down to us making shots in second half or not. We start making a normal percentage and we will win. That all comes down to shot selection and better ball movement.
