UNC 3rd NOA Released

Bilas saying that the NCAA is violating it's own rules, but hasn't been specific. Some guy came back with screenshots of two rules which appear to allow them to do what they are doing. Not a lawyer, so I don't know, but so far Bilas has not provided proof he's wrong.
Please remember Bilas ' pay check is signed by John Skipper a UNC Grad who was UNC man of the year a few years ago and is president of a little TV company called ESPN which interestingly has not covered the biggest scandal in the history of sports very much.

Millions on lawyers and PR firms and you don't have to be Columbo to assume Bilas is friendly with some of those people, and also works for a company run by a UNC alumnus.

I'm going further than saying he's 'friendly' with some of those people. I'm questioning whether he's being paid (albeit indirectly) from the vast sums of money that UNC has showered these various firms in support of their defense.

I'm questioning whether Bilas should simply cease talking about this on the air because of conflicts of interest at this point.

Great find . Would be interesting for someone to ask Bilas what his fee was for speaking at the event. Also whether he has ever had a conversation with Skipper about UNC scandal.

So UNC will get to complete this season until they face even the slightest possibility of something actually being done to their women's ping-pong team because that's obviously who this whole scandal was designed to benefit.

Sorry if already posted but, I don't really see a problem with their current talent and they played us very close in Vegas so, to say they do not want to go the court route to try and save their record is overlooking their current team of players. Now, if they started losing 10 plus or more a year, I could see the point.

I still think will be drug out so long, they will get a slap on the wrist.
This is what I think everyone is forgetting. Every time something comes up on this people get themselves all geared up for some action by the NCAA only to be disappointed. Until someone with some real balls comes along, things like this will continue to happen.UL and UNC will skate. Neither one of them really seams to be hurting player wise either unless those of you that think that way are willing to admit that they are winning because their coaches are just that good.

The difference with this time, however, is that the NCAA didn't do this. The Committee on Infractions did. The COI consists of members from individual schools or conferences. It's not the NCAA.

The COI basically stepped in and overruled the NCAA enforcement group and told them to rewrite the NOA and put the stronger allegations back in. At this point, it doesn't matter if the NCAA wants to do something or not. The COI has taken it out of their hands.

I will believe it when something actually happens, then, I will come on here and happily eat crow. Plus, don't get me wrong, I know they are not getting the top recruits even now but, somehow, they are winning.

This is a very interesting find. Where did you come across this?

That's fine, and certainly a reasonable position to take.

I just wanted to point out that for the first time since the investigation began, there is an entirely new group of people calling the shots. That is a very significant development that shouldn't be overlooked. Doesn't guarantee they'll get hammered, but it does mean that the dynamics have shifted dramatically.

I'll say this though; were I a betting man, I'd be putting all my money on UNC getting absolutely destroyed on this. The only way out I see for them is if a federal judge gives them a Hail Mary.

I saw it this summer. Don't remember how exactly I ran across it, but it was prominently mentioned on the Cadwalader website. (The link I gave is still active.)

On IC they are screaming for UNC to sue the NCAA. IMO there is no way that they want to give the NCAA the right to subpoena witnesses to testify under oath. This does away with there claims they haven't released info due to FERPA concerns. Can you imagine what would come out in testimony if perjury charges were in play

I've been checking out some of the comments on the Carolina boards and it's amazing to me how naive and ill-informed they are about this scandal.

And this isn't just random posters either but frequent posters, insiders and moderators. It's like they have no conception of how serious the infractions are, and how vulnerable they are to the whims of the NCAA.

From day one most of their posters have buried their heads in the sand. I still remember shortly after the scandal broke, RevHeels came here and called me a liar. When I posted articles, he disappeared never to be seen again. I also recall the long manuscripts written by DSouth defending the classes as "easy" and as nothing less than independent study classes.

One of their prominent posters, who also posted here, expressed some major disappointment on THR concerning the scandal. He and others who understood the situation were beaten into the ground for daring to question the integrity of UNC coaches and staff. There is no tolerance on that board for anything but the company line.

Discussion of the scandal was forbidden on IC for years. They kept themselves ignorant unless they read Kane, pack pride or here.

As bad as this is, and it is bad, nothing will come of it regarding mens basketball. The only two places you even see a discussion about this is from NC St and here. The NCAA is washed up, half broke, and is appeasing the few who remotely care. Their darling basketball program, the Heels, will slide by untouched
I agree.

I don't think they are uniformed but choose to believe the line their school is pushing , UNC's propaganda of the scandal and every single external sources interpretation is vastly different . It's what they hope happens but I'd bet anything they know the truth and choose to ignore it . They have to search the Internet for articles on this scandal , in fact every negative article is filled with UNC fans in the comments section . So they are willfully being ignorant imo

Those emails from Susy, who is apprently a tutor, suggests she was doing preliminary work, which the players were supposed to use as a guideline when doing their own work, which she said would "miraculously" get done at the last minute. She talked about one of them being a "lazy ass".

Just saw in the text below those screenshots that the tutor in question, Susy, has since passed away from Cystic Fibrosis. Otherwise, they might have been able to get more ammo against them.
