UL

Might be the most shocking result in all CFB this weekend. Getting dogwalked by Cuse? I thought UL would be a pretty good 8-4 type team. Will be lucky to reach 6.

were you drunk when you thought that?
they were not very good last year and lost more talent then they added
He probably figured that the ACC was so bad that wins were possible there. I unfortunately live in the middle of the Louisville hype machine so they try to brainwash us all to think that they have improved just because it’s a new season.

I haven’t watched it yet, but heard it was ugly. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch. 😂😂😂

Yesh, you are like me, as a Louisville resident the only reports said about UL football are glowing and 1000% positive praise. I pay as little attention as possible to ul, but just as a distant observer i thought with Malik/Makail a 6th yr starter and a ton of senior starters and a weak acc they would be a winning team.

Just another example why I don't bet!

Um, what? Satterfield is awful and decided to keep his DC (who somehow is worse). They lost talent, brought in a few decent transfers, have a run first qb who doesn't show up in big(ish) games, and a schedule with five ranked teams. They finished last year getting trucked by us and punked out by Air Force. They'll be one of 4-8, 5-7, 6-6 and fire Satt a couple days after their annual loss to us. 8-4? Shew, I wouldn't admit that again.

I thought they’d be a .500 teams this year honestly just cause they were last year and the ACC still sucks. I imagine Jeff Brohm will be their coach before next season but the shine has come off him certainly. Also bet that recruiting class falls apart.

The AP voter that gave UL a vote last week, did not this week. Syracuse also did not get a vote. Meanwhile, UL’s next opponent, UCF, received 22 votes.

I might be wrong, but I think UL received a vote in the preseason Coaches Poll and not the AP poll.

You can track how the AP voters vote on collegepolltracker.com.

I believe the coaches poll ballots are kept confidential until after the season ends.

I actually was thumbing through channels Sunday and saw their replay come on the ACC network and watched a little and it was worse than the score. Syracuse was without a couple of key starters and the had like 17 penalties themselves in the game and still won easily.

UL will rebound some but man that was one stinker of an opener. Cunningham looked lost.

They can’t afford to pay SatterfIeld s buyout which is 7 million now and will b five million after the season ,nor can they afford to pay Brohm wjhat Purdue is .
after paying buyouts to TJ,BP and legal cost with RP , losing their ability to use their educational foundation as a slush fund for sports they are busted .
My guess is after Central Florida hands them their rear end they won’t average twenty thousand fans a game .

Good catch. It was the coaches’ poll. Makes me even more intrigued.

We never know what athletic departments can and can’t afford. Generally if they want to do something, they raise the money and get it done. Many said UL couldn’t afford to fire Mack and they did.

Mack settled because he had committed NCAA violations, thrown his best and probably only friend under the bus, and really just wanted to move back to Cincy to get trashed and hangout in sports bars.

And recruits. Don't forget what they are shelling out for them. They are stuck with Sat for a couple more years.

They'll fire Shatterfield thanks to an Adidas gift, and Adidas will then pick their next coach.

Talent wise we have a good team, scheme wise we suck on both sides of the ball.
Do you really think Satt can’t call a complicated enough offense to get it done?

If I were him, with Cunningham, I would pull every tape from Kentucky’s last 8 games with Lynn Bowden at QB, and mimic that style of play. Allow Malik to throw the ball 5 to 10 times a game, and find ways to get him to the edge 30 percent of the time.

Why do UofL fans keep talking about their "talent".?

How can you recruit class after class that ranks in the middle of the ACC, look small and slow against better teams, have a losing record and constantly talk about all your "talent".

Coaching and scheme may be a problem, but when your lines get trucked year in and out by good teams, and you look slow at almost every position you don't have all this "talent".

Thats where the Louisville media and UofL sunshine pumpers keep tricking the fanbase

"We're gonna have a great year because we have good talent".

No you aren't because no you don't.

In the preseason Rivals went through and ranked all of the P5 teams projected starters by their high school ranking and Louisville would have been last in the SEC - well below Vandy. I know star rankings arent an exact science, but when I watch Louisville play football I do not see a lot of talent.

Granted I've only seen them against UK, but they are small, slow and unathletic in the trenches and in general on defense. In the last 3 (would've been 4 if not for Covid) games vs UK, they have been physically overwhelmed. They have also checked out mentally in those games by the middle of the 3rd quarter.

He’s gone before us….

Here’s a lengthy analysis I did a way back
in February of 2021. There has been one more signing class since, then, but the trends generally continued, although UK signed a Top 15 Class in 2022:

“So, that averages all opponents we ought to be within shooting distance of in ‘21, and beyond, and 8 of our ‘21 opponents.

4 YEAR AVERAGE STAR VALUES:
(1) USCe . . . . . 3.268
(2) Miss. St. . . 3.195
(3) UK . . . . . . 3.190
(4) Ark. . . . . . 3.125
(5) Ole Miss . . 3.122
(6) Mizzou . . . 2.980
(7) U of L . . . . 2.952
(8) Vandy . . . . 2.880
(9) ULM . . . . . N/A
(10) NMSt . . . N/A
(11) Chatt. . . . . N/A

4 Year Ave. Rivals National Ranking:
(1) Miss. St. . . . 24th
(2) Ole Miss . . 28th
(3) UK . . . . . . . 28.5th
(4) USCe . . . . . 33rd
(5) Arky . . . . . 36th
(6) Mizzou . . . 37th
(7) Vandy . . . . 44th
(8) U of L . . . . 46th
(9) ULM . . . . . 114th (TOS)
(10) NMSt. . . . 118th (TOS)
(11) Chatt . . . . 181th (TOS)

4 Year Ave. Rivals Class Score:
(1) USCe . . . . . . . . 1,791
(2) Miss. State . . . 1,757
(3) Ole Miss. . . . . .1,750
(4) UK . . . . . . . . . . 1,691
(5) Arkansas . . . . 1,586
(6) Mizzou . . . . . . 1,527
(7) Vandy . . . . . . . 1,402
(8) U of L . . . . . . . 1,395
(9) ULM . . . . . . . . ——
(10) N. M. St. . . . . ——
(11) Chatt. . . . . . . ——

And, finally, the Ave. Score of the 3 Categories:
(1) Miss. State
(2) USCe
(3) Ole Miss
(4) UK
(5) Arky
(6) Mizzou
(7) Vandy
(8) U of L
(9) ULM
(10) N.M. State
(11) Chatt.

From the purely objective numbers, none of which is adjusted for transfers in or out, we seem to be in a damn-near statistical dead-heat with Miss State, USCe, and Ole Miss. On the Ave. Rivals Class Score, there are fewer points dividing No. 1 (USCe, 1,791) and No. 4 (UK, 1,691) than there are between No. 4 UK and No. 5 Arkansas (1,586). Then, to get into U of L range, there’s an additional drop of 295 points.”

I think Louisville’s fans were conditioned to believe classes averaging in the 40’s were all that was needed to be in the BCS/playoff conversations, because they were in those conversations with G5 opponents and then briefly with Lamar.

Kentucky and U of L fans in the past would see a separation of ten slots and think there was a talent differential. That separation has become more than 20 slots over multiple classes, now, and that should create a difference in talent.

It seems that UL’s transfers, Evans and Hudson played well. UL appears to, otherwise, be young at the WR spot.

We had a strong Oline that was very adept at run blocking when Bowden was behind center. Something Louisville lacks. If they tried that with Cunningham, he'd be in a body cast after two games.

MC is very slight from the waist down. He is fast but not strong physically. He does not tolerate contact. He usually has to go out after he goes down hard a few times. Bowden was Youngstown tuff. Michelle not so much.
