UL is no longer a rival. They don't win enough to be. They're just another easy W on the schedule.

Thanks for another "W" UL fans. But then again we pretty much chalk it up now when we see the date on the schedule. I know you look at your entire existence in terms of how you do against UK and as a result when you're not preoccupied with hookers and your coach's peculiar dining habits/restaurant table manners you like to imagine that you're somehow locked in a bitter rivalry with Kentucky and that's nice. I hope it gives you a reason to be.

But pardon us if we have bigger fish to fry. More important games to consider. Sure, we'll think your anxiety and antics are amusing in much the same way that a big brother looks upon his smaller, younger brother and we may even pat you on the head from time to time to at least acknowledge your fawning desire to have a program anywhere near what UK basketball is... but never forget that it is just a dream. A lingering impossible dream. Like a little girl licking on her Justin Bieber posters.

Because you're not really a rival. You don't win enough basketball games to be. You, in the end, are just another "W" on a schedule full of W's. Another stepping stone to be confidently walked over on the way to things that actually matter. Thanks for adding to our totals but, like all one night stands are... and please don't take this the wrong way... but you're nothing we're going to be bringing home to mom.

I'm sure you understand and if you don't, then just ask your coach or players to explain it to you.

With that line of thinking we should remove all SEC games off the schedule too. I mean we usually win right?

Maybe we could schedule North Carolina, Duke and Marquette about 10 games each every year. They seem to all have pretty good success with us.

I don't know about you but that sure didn't seem easy to me and, unlike IU in the end, the UL game has been and will continue to be THE rival game since they do play good, not as good as UK, basketball with more than a few W's. Don't get me wrong, I hate em and anything bad, shy of a player being seriously hurt, that happens to UL is music to my ears.

I guess I'm not seeing it. Not only was that not an easy win. It could be argued that UK did a fair job of trying to give the game away in the last 4+ minutes.

That's a different arguement. Cool, yet unrealistic, thought.

Agree. There's just to much $$$ going to UK because of revenue sharing in the SEC. This past season, UK, for the first time, joined the $100M+ plus club.

Never said anything about leaving the $EC in all sports, just mens hoops. The money is all about football.

Was not any easy win...what game were you watching? Looked like it was gonna be easy but we let them back in it

In looking at records against certain opponents on Jon Scott's site, I see at least Mich St, Ohio St., St. Johns, VMI, Wisconsin, UCLA, and St. Louis have had more success in beating us than UL has - on top of the Duke, Marquette, and UNCheat already mentioned above.

Also if you compare the records, UL has beaten us approx. the same low % of the time as Tennessee and Notre Dame have. Congrats Cards, you are the new Tennessee - Notre Dame to us.

Yes but, I think the overall consensus is that it is almost a guaranteed win for us lately. I mean 8-1 is pretty dominating. Not discounting our overall record against them which is also domination so, most Cat fans chalk it up as most likely a win when we predict our record at the beginning of the year.

No way it should be cancelle!!

It is my favorite game of the year.

This was probably ULs last chance to win for a while though with Pitino's retirement abd probation looming.

It will continue to be a hammer vs nail rivalry.

I don't agree with OP but I don't see them winning again any time soon. No matter how close the games may be, we still own them right now. It's almost like playing a good mid-major![laughing]

OP, don't get too caught up in the euphoria. I'm as happy as anyone to beat them, but I know they're a rival because all week I'm an anxious, nervous wreck. Also, they're a good team.

And BTW, this team seems to be pretty classy, such as Lee who was very gracious in defeat today, and unlike their coach (who is normally gracious in defeat to us) who claimed we got all the foul calls in the 1st half and might have flipped off the UK fans as he exited Rupp.

As Self would put it--U of L ran out of time. Another 5 minutes, and they take that over.

Good fact, thanks. We win at around a 69.3% clip against all 3, Louisville, Tennessee, and Notre Dame.

Remember how ESPN loves showing those stats about the UNC/Duke rivalry, and how close it is? Like, in the last million games its 500,001 to 499,999 or whatever, and they both have scored exactly 38,563 points? I make light of it, but those stats really are amazing and show why that's clearly the best rivalry. All the fans and local media wanting to say uk/uofl is the best - it's not. Passion alone can't make a one sided rivalry into something it's not. A hammer and a nail may hate one another, but that don't make it a rivalry......

It is still a rivalry, just a one sided one.

It is not quite to the level of UK vs. UT in football, which I think calling that game a rivalry is bit of a joke but I digress.

I've said this for years, including football. Unfortunately, UK has let that sport go for far too long. If they ever decide to take it seriously, that will be yet another series dominated by Big Brother

I appreciate the time you took to stick another knife in the back of our rival. Lol.

Fifteen Second Dicktino is about to see that his little team is nothing but a middle of the pack ACC team if that. Sorry bout your luck Podge.

We balance out in football. It was a hard win, and I'm glad it came only one month after they killed our bowl hopes in CWS. Washed that foul taste out of my mouth......

GBB

U of L chances don't look too good next year either. They lose their two top scorers and UK brings in one of the top recruiting classes ever. I don't think Denny ever thought the series would be this one sided when he was wanting to play the Cats.

Pitino is normally gracious in defeat to us? Was crack on sale today or are you a UL fan?

UK had never won 8 of 9 in the series until today.
The butthurt is reaching epic status.
Also, UK has only won five in a row just once, and that was spread out through the 20's and into the 50's. With the class UK has coming in next year, and the recent domination in this series, dare I say... five in a row, here we come!

Wow, if only we pulled one out in 2013. We would be gunning for 9 in a row over Louisville. Next year, we're going to be at full strength again....

Well played .. little brothers understand. They'd like to do something about it but they just gulp and move out of the way.

And unlike Tennessee, they didn't have to play us during our most dominant period as a program.

What a bunch of second raters we share this state with.
