UK's Calipari: Don't expect repeat rout at UCLA

We could have played them the very next day after last year's game and I still wouldn't have expected anywhere near the same start. 41-7 vs any team with a pulse just doesn't happen.

We get up for big name teams. UCLA may not be great but they are still a big name. Big stage on a Thursday night with the prime time limelight all to themselves, I like our guys chances of winning fairly easily. But I agree that no way, no how it will be anything like that game last year.

Having said all that, Cats by 10, 73-63

I think we win, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about our play from Skal. There will come a night he will be needed, I pray he shows up.

there's that 63 again.

I'd never expect that score, not even in an exhibition game versus the blind sisters of the poor. I think we were up 23-0? It was unreal.

Skal hasn't played the greatest, but the guards have to get him the ball more. It's their job to get him more involved on offense. I bet Cal will have Ulis getting him more involved tomorrow night.

I don't expect that kind of rout but I do expect UK to come out with the same kind of fire they had against Duke and South Florida. They get up for the big games and December has four of them.

I don't really know if I consider South Florida a big game at all, in front of a very sparsely populated arena. We certainly did play our best game against Duke for the most part, but I need to see it in more "big games" before it becomes a trend. I tend to agree with those of you saying that though, but need a larger sample size.

The game will be tough for 3 or 4 reasons. UK will win because of 2 reasons:
Why it will be close:
First true rd. Gm
Early in season with mostly Fr.
We embarressed them last yr.
Ulis wont be 100%

Why we win:
Kentucky has twice the talent.
UCLA is not good per early record.

I never really expect to blow out any team, so i won't be expecting a blowout vs Ucla. If Ulis plays against the bruins, i like our odds of winning the game a lot more than if he wasn't going to play. Ucla has some muscle and strength inside so i don't expect Skal to look great. This is a game that i think the big Aussie kid makes his presence known and helps rebounding the ball so our guards can get out on the fast break and score buckets! Poythress might even have to give the big center from Ucla some defense. It's a matchup that i think if Skal is put on the big kid, he gets in foul trouble early and never sees the floor. Skal needs to add strength and it won't happen overnight.

It won't be like last year, but I love it that Cal scheduled a road game in their den just a year after humiliating them on s neutral one. It has a 'I'll drink your milkshake' kind of badassery.

I'll be watching very closely. :pimp:
