UK vs Ohio St Game Thread

We need to press 3/4 court, and play some zone, were a taller team, got to run some inside out to get better shots, were playing straight up, got to
get bent over and play some defense

Why not play a zone????

Our ball movement is horrible tonight.

Never fails that kids that have a connection to UK burn us when we play them, Bradshaw has NEVER played this good.

Can’t shoot this bad and beat anyone, even CRAPPY teams like OSU.

Got to figure out why we play so terribly in the 1st half of games.

Sad

Looks to me like we gotta stop fouling. We should be winning this game looking at the box score

Now pope will make adjustments, we know that, but will the players actually make the plays
I think this is the first game that he doesn’t make adjustments and we actually lose by 15 to a weak ass Ohio State squad.

Pope thinks that he has more talent on his bench than he actually does and he’s still allowing players to do things that you’re not suit their skill sets. And he still doesn’t have the right guys taking the most shots.

Some of us have been saying it from day one it I’ll keep saying it: at this point you go with Carr at the five and see what you have.

Carr is a mismatch for most 5’s. Brea can get better looks with four shooters around him. Robinson too would find more space.

Butler
Oweh
Robinson
Brea
Carr

Bench:
Kerr (when he’s back)
Garrison
Chandler

As little as possible:
Williams
Perry
Almanor

If they come out playing for crap, they deserve to lose. Sloppy basketball and making Ohio State look like a top 10 team.

Ohio State scored 1.26 PPP in that first half.

We could have played well offensively that half and still be losing.

For the game, Ohio State has an eFG% of 67 and only committed 3 turnovers. We are going to lose often if we have to score 1.3 PPP to win.
Because we let them score 1.26 ppp, we are too soft and the SEC is going to expose that twice a week.

Not gonna okay perfect every game. They coming back.
One of these games, a second half comeback isn't going to cut it. We NEED to start playing 40 minutes like Pope said.

I'm extremely concerned that Pope sticks with the scout for so long even when we're getting crushed. Halftime adjustments are great, but what did we realistically change out of that timeout the first time OSt went up big?

I'm not a basketball genius, but I know UK plays better out of halftime than a timeout. More time at halftime, granted, but c'mon. Throw a zone at them or something.

I'm frustrated, and even if we blow the hinges off of these guys and win by 30, I'll still have reservations. Losing the first half will cost us in the long run, and so far, it's a pattern.

Nah you just like to complain. Here you are again first sign of trouble.
Nah, I wish I didn’t have too! I want us to give a shit and actually bite down and play defense with pride and some ****ing give a shit!!! Our guys haven’t played to their potential whatsoever and it pisses me tf off! It should piss you off too!!

I continue to contend that this UK team will be fortunate to finish 11-7 in the SEC.

We lack junk yard dogs outside of Williams and Butler. Everyone else is a finesse player who often folds against physical play. Tennessee and Auburn must be licking their chops right now and how easily we crumble when the game gets physical.
Williams? He’s soft as Charmin. Can’t block shots and can’t shoot anything well except a dunk, and he plays lazy. Sorry. You must have meant Oweh, but he’s done nothing this game either.

I think so, they are on National TV proving that they don’t belong at big basketball is what Pope is telling them. Now it’s time to prove it in the second half
I hope you’re right. Their effort level is embarrassing tonight. Getting outhustled. Drives me nuts. If the team is better than us then hats off, but when you are down because of being outworked, that’s not good.

Came to check in on the thread. Shocked to find people negative and bashing the team. That never happens when they have a bad half.
Whose fault is that? You got anything positive to say about that first half? Honestly, I don’t. Or you just want to bitch about the game thread? Oh yeah, you’re so superior complaining about the posters instead of the game. Yup. You’re Jesus himself.

Big thing for me was lack of intensity. This team should be hungry every minute of every game and that’s been lacking
Maybe they need an L to wake up. This is a very good team but most games will be close. People need to get used to that but everyone expects them to play a perfect 40 every time out. Not gonna happen. Go Cats. Make adjustments and win another one!

I understand your point but I would also add Otega Oweh as a junk yard dog.

Ohio State is controlling the tempo of the game. We have to come out and fight the second half. We look sluggish and uninspired.

Or basically anyone in the SEC minus maybe one or two teams. Concerning. It’s fixable. It’s really just effort on defense and communication.

Really don't think it's fixable for SEC play. NCAAT is a different story because the field there might actually be easier than the field in the SEC.

But I see a team that's gonna take a lot of beatings in the SEC simply because the players just aren't very good. Almost every single one of them have some pretty glaring weaknesses and that's why their were all sub50 recruits and playing either on mid-major teams, or were like the 4th option on a middling P5 program..

It might be harsh to say, but these guys just aren't the type of caliber who should be playing at a Kentucky or a Duke, at least not in the roles they have now.
