A game the cats cannot afford to lose IMO, a loss tonight would damage the RPI somewhat. Do not know who will start for the Cats, maybe Hazelwood, he did pretty well this past weekend against MSU.
UK hitters cannot snooze at the plate for 4 or 5 innings, before kicking it into gear, the game being played in Paducah probably knocks out the OVC digital network from carrying it on the internet, so I guess listening will be the only option.

Murray State has a losing record 24-26, so yes a loss wouldn't be good. They do have a freshman named Wood, who is hitting north of .370, and he was the Missouri Gatorade player of the year last season, so a recruiting coup for the Racers.
Tonight's game is being played at probably the most historic Ball Park in Kentucky. Brooks stadium was built in 1948, and has hosted many different games and tournaments. It seats 1,200, and is 330 down both lines and 400 ft. to CF, it is no band box.
 
I just dont like this game.....Not so much playing Murray State but just the quick turnaround getting to Nashville and a short pitching staff.
 
Pompey grounded out to the pitcher on the first pitch. Cottam then bounced one off the wall that went for a double, but he tried to stretch it into a triple and got thrown out easily. Becker then walked before Heyer struck out. 0-0 going to the bottom of the 1st.
 
Single up the middle followed up with a fly ball to right field. Murray then steals second, but just a bit later they are picked off of second. Two out single past Heyer keeps the inning alive. Schaenzer gets a strikeout to end the inning. 0-0 going to the second.
 
Error helps Squires to reach. Combs skies one to the warning track, but it goes for an out. A big time fly there, but not far enough. Another big time hit to left, but a jumping catch robs UK of a hit. Lewis grounds out to second to end the UK half. 0-0
 
Another strikeout for Schaenzer to start the Racer 2nd. UK turns a double play to end the 2nd! 0-0
 
Back to back looking for outs one and two on Dawson and Pompey to start the third. Cottam drew a walk before Becker got hit by a pitch. He's hobbled a bit.
 
Heyer grounds up the middle and it almost squeezes past the infield, but a bobbled play goes to second to get Becker and it ends the UK half of the third. 0-0
 
Brad leaves on up and it goes for a base hit to start the Racer third. Wild pitch moves the runner up 90. Belanger out to talk to Brad here in the third. Single to right scores a run and puts Murray up 1-0.
 
Sacrifice bunt moves the runner up to second. Brad gets another strikeout for the second out. Line drive to Dawson ends the third, but Murray takes an early 1-0 lead.
 
Squires grounds out to the pitcher. Ball just going right back to him instead of running by. Combs goes down swinging for the second out. UK's offense needs to find something here. Haven't really made a lot of noise since the 1 out double in the first. Just as I type that Ben Aklinski hits a big time HOME RUN to tie this game!! He goes to deep left! 1-1
 
Aklinski with his 6th home run of the year. Lewis is robbed of a big time hit, possibly of a home run. UK still hitting the ball hard, but the MUR outfield is really robbing UK on some hard hit balls.
 
Their pitcher Hayes averages 1.4 hits per inning pitch. We have two in 4 innings
 
Squires is slumping. Really need him to warm back up at the plate, IMO, if UK is going to go on a run.
 
Do we wait until we fall behind before replacing Schaenzer? I'm betting so.
 
State starts off the inning with another leadoff single. Too many times UK is allowing the leadoff man to reach. It is going to bite us soon. I think Schaenzer needs to come out now. he has fallen behind 2-0 on both hitters this inning. Apparently Harper is up in the pen. Would rather not see Harper throw a lot today and would rather save him for this weekend, but this is a game we cannot lose. Brad is called for a balk and the runner moves up 90 feet to second. Brad then battles back and gets a 3-2 strikeouts for out number one. Wild pitch moves the runner up once again and State now has a runner at third with one out. Schaenzer falls behind the hitter once again, this time 3-0 before battling back to a full count and he gets a strikeout for the second out of the inning. Belanger now coming in to take out Schaenzer and will bring in Harper. Good way to battle back for Brad and not allow that run to score so far.
 
Harper not overly sharp to start and he gives up a two out single to allow the Racers to score 2-1. Harper still struggling to locate and he gives up a walk to put runners on second and first with two outs. Hazelwood now warming up in the bullpen. Harper draws another full count before getting a swinging strikeout to end the 4th. UK down 2-1 going to the top of the 5th.
 
Dawson works the count full, but they call him out on a checked swing. He didn't like the call on the appeal to first. Pompey also works a full count before hitting one into the left center gap for a single. KOLE COTTAM TOUCH 'EM ALL!!! 3-2 UK!! He was bound to get one. He was crushing the ball and he finally got it all. This one goes to right field and it is his 17th of the season. New pitcher for the Racers.

Pompey with a good at bat goes 3-2 and gets a single to the gap. Murray State brings in the best ERA on the staff. Becker really lines one but is out and Heyer hits it off the wall. Opponents are hitting 0.196 against Carner so naturally, we pound him. Why is it that we make an 8.8 ERA guy look great and then we pound their best reliever?
 
On the backside of the pitching change Becker lines out to right field. It took a sliding catch to get the out. Becker hit it pretty well. Heyer hits one off of the base of the wall. He crushed it for a two out double. When they get going the Cats can rake, and they have raked today, but just haven't been able to get as many breaks as they might usually. Squires goes down swinging. He continues to struggle. Still, UK leads 3-2 going to the bottom of the 5th.
 
Hazelwood now coming in for Harper. I kind of hope that UK tries to do a bit of a Johnny All-Staff in this game and save as many arms as possible for this weekend. We will need all hands on deck to get two of three in Nashville.
 
Sounds like Indiana scored 6 runs in the top of the 10th to get a lead on Louisville. That would be a pretty big game for Indiana.


Whoa... no replay today and it is going to hurt Murray as an infield grounder is gobbled up by Dawson and the throw is late, but UK gets the call.
 
Base hit through the left side for the Racers. Lewis gets a fly ball in right for out two and then he runs down one on the line for the third out. Apparently an outstanding play.
 
Boy that play by Lewis in right really had Headrick as excited as I've heard him. Nice to see him getting fired up. Makes the game more "live" to me.
 
Combs has shown his power today, but just can't seem to find the grass and that is the case again in this at bat in the 6th. He lines out to right. Racers going to go to a new pitcher.
