UK-UT opening line

Wow again .. . PICK UP THE RECRUITING RANKINGS THE LAST 4 YEARS AND TAKE A LOOK.
Facts from 247 sports
2018 - TN =21. UK=37
2019 - TN=13. UK=34
2020 - TN=11. UK=25
2021 - TN=22. UK=35
Averages TN= 16.75. UK=32.75
Henry "Toy Toy" made up a HUGE portion of your ranking for the '20 Class, and has been gone to Bama for a while. Those '18, '19 and '20 classes were decimated by the McDonald's bag scandal.

UT struggled with a terrible Pitt team and Florida was driving for the win
Bama hits a field goal they win that game
UT is good but not the 75 Steelers
Have to get off to a good start
UT defense is high risk - pound the ball then look deep
Levis has to be part of ground game - play to win Stoops

UT struggled with a terrible Pitt team
No, Pitt is not terrible. They are 4-3. They are average.. Their problem in their 2 losses other than UT is their propensity to gift their opponents. 7 TOs in those 2 games.

and Florida was driving for the win

LOL. No. UF scored to pull to 38-33 with 0:17 on the clock. Credit to their kicker for an absolutely perfect onside kick that allowed a couple of hail mary attempts, but those were not exactly what you would call "driving for a win."
Bama hits a field goal they win that game
It wasn't exactly a chip shot FG that he missed. It was a 50 yarder.

UT is good but not the 75 Steelers
I will definitely agree with this.

Yep. UT should win and should always have won based on the recruiting rankings for more than the last 30 years. They haven't though, because recruiting rankings don't win you games. They'll get the calls in Neyland, so we need to play better than the team AND the refs. Tough to do but we can do it

Better recruiting isn't going to win 100% of the time but it puts teams in a better position to win the majority. That's why even with some bad teams they have won 90% of the last 30. It has gotten better the last 11 years with UK winning 3.

I agree with you on the refs as well as they will steal the game if we keep it close enough to matter late.

Good Lord, is the defense mechanism out already for us ? The refs are going to win the game for Tennessee ? Good God Almighty we need to beat Tennessee , to be in the top tier, Kentucky needs to do what it takes to win the game. The first thing they need to do is forget about blaming the rest for the inevitable loss before the game is even played. Always excuses . blaming the rest for the inevitable loss before the game is even played. The vols are one confident team Tennessee. Football team is scary. The reason they are scary is because of Josh Heupel. They reflect his personality, just as we reflect Stoops. Remember how they scored on ass before the half ended last year? They do it all the time.
lsu, Bama, us. Tillman coming back is going to make it even tougher.
Lastly, the entire SEC says Kentucky gets every call in basketball …. Of course, they don’t
does it piss you off that people say that ? Yes !
No more excuses

Stoops, himself, said they would hit some big plays on us. They take so many shots and their QB is pretty accurate on the deep balls a lot of times. He said their QB can make quick decisions on what to do with the ball. Think he said they lead the nation in long plays. Their wideouts are wider than normal to make it harder to cover with so much territory and our players having to go one on one a lot of the time.

Just like everybody else, they will have to put most of their players in the box because of CR. The passing game should be their when we need it. But we need to keep the clock running on offense so their offense has lesser chances than what they are used to so their rythem is not what they are used to. We need TD's instead of FG's because they will score at least a few TD's. We need to have the mind set of being the aggressor. When they catch it, unload. When they run it, tee off. We are the least penalized team in the SEC, need to keep it that way. They whine to the refs a lot wanting them to help them. So nothing obviously stupid to give the refs that much more reason to throw a flag.

I remembered Levis being particularly bothered by this game last year. Expect him to be very focused and determined. Not a game we can afford turning the ball over or get a bunch of penalties. We are good enough if we can play a smart and aggressive game on both sides. Would feel better about it with Jones. Whether we win or not, at the least, make sure they are dragging themselves off the field knowing they played the most physical team to date.

It's crazy to think what Heupel has done in his short time there. Nobody can seem to figure out how to stop his offense and he has been a head coach more than 5 years now. I hate the vols and would rather see them lose than any team out there, but it will be a big task on the road. They have done a good job putting together a roster that fits their needs.

UT Fans - is Cedrick Tillman in or out this week? any other key players out or returning?
UK is in pretty good shape injury wise. We have one starter at ILB, Jones, out indefinitely but we have a lot of depth there. We get Robinson WR1 and Flax RT back this week.

From what I understand, he is ready and will play. They held him out of Bama and UTM to let him fully recover, but he has been practicing for the last couple if weeks. A lot of players that were dinged up and held out of the UTM game should be ready. The starting LT, Mincey, also missed the Bama game, but his backup, Crawford, neutralized Bama's edge rush from his side, with help from the #3 LT on that side, Davis, so I would imagine CJH feels comfortable with that position if Mincey is not available.

ILB Mitchell was held out last Saturday but I think should be ready. UT had 5 DBs out against UTM, including 3 starters (both CBs and a safety. I am hopung mist will be ready. Starting CB Burrell is out for the season though. Starting safety McCullough was cleared by the school ethics board, although he still has a court date in November, but should be cleared to play, if CJH chooses. So hopefully most everyone will be available.

Unfortunately I have to eat crow about Heupel.
The guy rebuilt a team in a season and a half to a top 5 team.
Cats have to have everything clicking, and Tennessee will have to have an off game. Kind of what happened with them and Bama, just UT on the short end
Latest line I saw was UT -12.5

Lower than I expected.

No fan can honestly answer that. Supposedly he is practicing and should be good to go but coach heupel will never tell status of a player that’s in question until about an hour before the game. I can tell you most mods on the other board who have been extremely accurate in the past and are connected say they expect to see him play. We will see how rusty he is if he plays. There’s been very little let down at receiver with him out and he is our best but the other 3 have been so good I don’t personally think it’s gonna alter the outcome of the game one way or another.

You seem to be a knowledgeable fan and your posts are fair. I welcome any rival fan who isn’t an ass. Rival fans are visitors the way I see it. Grumpy’s here all the time and we never seem to beat them so I’m not being a jerk here.

My question for you: TN fans flock to this board like flies on sh*t every time we play and 99% of them act exactly like the stuff those flies are flocking to. Rude, obnoxious, and stupid. Being that you have seemed to fall into that 1% of UT fans welcome here .. will you give me your honest opinion on why so many UT fans are jerks when they visit this board ?

I couldn't say for sure. My gut would say the more aggressive would be the younger posters - for the most part - but that is just a guess from personal experience because when I first used to post on football message boards I could be a prick. But really, I don't know. Message boards make most people act differently than face to face.

I think a lot of it is just people who want to see if they can get others riled up and stir up some stuff. You get that from every fan base if you look very much. I always read the oppositions board of I can cause I want to get their perspectives and takes on it. I look forward to this game every year and there have been some super close and tight ones. Fortunately it’s gone my teams way the majority. I’m not naive enough to think this is gonna be an easy game by any stretch. Our strengths (offense) match well Avas it your strength (defense). You pride yourself is slowing a game down and we like to go fast. You run well and we defend the run well. I’m really looking forward to the game and seeing who imposes their will. I think if we have equal time of possession that is trouble for Kentucky and if Kentucky controls the clock and keeps the ball from us that’s not a good case for UT. Keep in mind we usually are way behind on time of possession due to the quick strike offense with run. It seems to Kentucky in general thinks we don’t run the ball well but we’ve been pretty balanced in our offensive attack. I think Kentucky has the edge in special teams for sure. Our new punt returner we just got back from injury is dangerous too though.

Of course white wolf Kentucky fans never come on to Tennessee’s chat boards after basketball wins
