UK-UT opening line

But yet you won't the games with Fla for both teams because it wouldn't change your mind, why?
The primary reason is that UT’s offense and overall skill set has zero similarity to Florida. Also, KY doesn’t run the same style offense as UF so there isn’t much to gain from it. Sure as a coach you can get formation, play recognition, and tendencies from watching film but both teams games plans against each other will be vastly different than when they each played Florida

Taken from Kiffin SDS Interview: (The Baylor system and much of what Kiffin and Kendal Briles did at FAU, however, are now a part of the Rebels offensive system, as well as what’s happening offensively at Arkansas and Tennessee).
Ole Miss And the Vols are certainly different but a lot of similarities are there. As far as whose better its hard to say? What I think and hope is that UK matches up well with Tenn. Now we all know UK propensity for losing to UT when they should not and it might happen again but do not be surprised if UK settles down after the 1 Qtr and it becomes a real cat fight of a game!
The difference to me is that UT passes the ball and mixes in the run and Ole Miss runs the ball to mix in the pass and UT adds in the no huddle which has proven over the years to be one of the issues for our defense. We often play a soft zone which I feel like hooker can exploit and we haven’t had much of a pass rush for a couple years which will allow hooker even more time to find the holes in the zone.

How was UK’s defense able to shut down both mississippi schools in the second half? You think the vols offense is vastly superior to those? I guess we will find out.

Tennessee hurry up offense is freakishly effective. The issue is it keeps the defense for Tennessee on the field too long. I expect to see Stoops order up the ground and pound.
If the Cats can keep turnovers down, this could be a game.
Stoops record coming off bye weeks is troubling. Seems to be a tendency to overthink schemes and plans.
As much as it hurts to say it, Tennessee is a team more t h an capable of shredding any defense.
But UK and Brad Whites boys could pull an upset.

We are pretty damn good ourselves...I'm looking forward to the game to see where we are. We just blew the OM game and without Levis for SC, Scan's game plan was horrible. Will be a war of wills.

Don't get caught up in the hype. Until 2 weeks ago they were ranked below us. They don't have more talent. look at the recruiting rankings for the last 4 years.
We got a top quarterback ..they got a top quarterback.
They got some skill players ...we got some skill players.

We're going to go down there and take the orange heart from their chest. Put them right where they belong. ...all the way Back to the beginning of last season.

For God's sake I hope the players feel like I do. And I hope Stoops has them fired up to play a team that beat us what some 30 years in a row?
Time for revenge. Hit em hard. Take their smile. Stop orange lover Dream season.
Have you been into @HerrosHeroes happy pills?

May want to sleep them off before you place your bets on this one.

Dang I HOPE YOU AND HH ARE RIGHT!!!

UT's offense under Heupel has been prettybalanced. For the 2021 season it was 51%/49% pass/run, but is really predicated on what the defense show. When UT gets into its wide splits, if the defense keeps more defenders in the box then that means Hooker is going to see a lot of 1on1 matchups outside, and UT will use motion to get a WR or SR matched with a safety, although Hyatt is a speed mismatch on most CBs. If the defense backs a player or 2 out of the box to assist the DBs, then UT will have the numbers inside run the ball, including designed runs for Hooker, or throw over the middle to its TEs.

Tennessee has punted three times TOTAL in their three SEC games. And those were all against ranked teams, Florida, LSU, and Alabama. Yes, the Tennessee offense is much better than Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Pass defense is the major weakness for Tennessee. Granted, three starters were out in the secondary against Alabama, but they haven't looked good before then either.

all of that is true .... but it is much easier to say Tennessee throws the ball better than Ole Miss and attacks weaknesses better and that is not good for our bend but don't break defense. At the end of the day, they just lit up bama and I know people like to think it doesn't matter, but it does and Bama's D has much more talent than ours

UT just dropped 50 on bama and won.... we can go back and forth but we aren't close to bama. We may end up being in a close game, who knows we may even win, but smart money says we lose. I know that is hard for some to accept on this board, but we are not as good at UT.

I agree with your post.
However, the best team doesn't always win despite who is the best team.

After a Stoopsy bye week? We’re gonna look so overwhelmed on defense it won’t even be funny. They’re gonna snap the ball while our guys are Super Bowl celebrating a tackle in which Tennessee didn’t gain 8+ yards. Vito’s dumb ass last year.
The UK D has a lot of pride. I don't think it will be mentioned this week by any player but they remember last year and they want, rather will take their satisfaction. This UK team is very good...something lost on some UK fans still living in the past.

Vegas probably thinks Kentucky's going to control the ball. Limit possessions.
And most of all they're going to make Tennessee run the ball. No throwing for a fast 50 like on the Bama dummies.
You want to win you're going to have to run it
We ran for 182 on bama . 263 on lsu and 227 on Florida but carry on. I’m looking forward to a heck of a game with y’all.

Thats what Ole Miss did too so we will be prepared this time. Oh and Ole Miss is currently #7 and undefeated and the game was in Oxford.
Worry debunked.
Next
Ole Miss is nothing compared to UT. Cats gave that game away.

Cats will have to have UT give the game away but it’s not unthinkable

UK has never and I repeat never had the pieces in place to take down a top 5 team on the road in the SEC east. This is the year that they could realistically pull a monument upset. Control clock with crod with a little of Levis pitching it to some damn good receivers. Get a turnover or 2 and this game gets very interesting. A win would enshrine this group of Cats in the annals of UK football history.

I can't decide -- even 7 games in , if we are the 7-0 we should be , and ranked 6th, OR the team that choked at Ole Miss , Special teams sucks, decided not to play hard against SC... looked putrid in the 1st half VS MSU .. I have no clue .. I do think Livas is wildly over rated . But Crod last week was a monster . D looks good . Tn is due a bad game .. the stars seem to align to give a good chance .. Stoops ball ( RUN THE DAMN BALL) versus a team that throws it a ton . If we run the ball well we will be right there at the end . I think are pretty damn good , just cant get all the pieces together ... Please Lord let it be against the filthy orange .

Against Pitt, yes. UT's worst game of the year offensively, but also UT's first game of the season on the road against a ranked opponent with a hostile crowd. Pitt got off to a hot start in the 1st qtr while Hooker was missing open receivers and when he did hit them they had the dropsies.

But then 2nd qtr UT finally got untracked and took a halftime lead. They built up a 10 pt lead in the 3rd qtr then decided to start giving the ball away and killing drives with penalties and allowed Pitt to get the game to OT, where UT regained its composure and put them away.

Agaunst UF, I thought UT took complete control of the game mid 3rd qtr, and went up 38-21 with 7:55 left in the game, and seemingly had the game put away. DC Tim Banks they went into a prevent to keep AR15, with his big arm, from throwing over the D for a quick score, and it worked as UF was inly able to pull to 38-33 with 17 seconds left and needing a miracle at that point. They got 1/2 of the miracle with a perfect onside kick, but the UT defense prevented the other half of the miracle by not letting AR15 get a hail mary into the EZ. But the end was for sure scarier than I had anticipated when the score was 38-21.

This game is not going to be pretty for us. Tennessee's uptempo will wear down our defense and if we can't score relatively easily the game could be over by halftime.
The only way to beat UTeee in Knoxville is if CRod gets 40+ carries and Levis can accurately throw just enough to keep the Vuls honest. UK must be very efficient and keep UTeee's offense off the field. Tall order in front of 100K meth'd up rednecks.

Simply put , the defense allows teams to hang around no matter how elite the offense has looked

Yes against UF; no against Pitt. The offense didn't look particularly good against Pitt, whjch is why the Panthers were able to hang around. Come to think of it, UF would not have made it interesting at the end if the offense had not shot itself in the foot with a penalty and got behind the chains, so had to punt with about 2 minutes left and a 38-27 lead. But at that point I didn't really mind the D playing prevent to prevent a quick UF score.
