You know, I honestly think Cal has tried to do that, but when players like Booker (who no one expected to be one and done) play here and show huge upside, they slowly start to creep up draft boards and end up leaving. This Vick kid seems like a good player, so hopefully we can snag him! Still would like to see another big body, but I think Cal has this under control...I've really been wanting Calipari to sign some high level 4 stars that could hang around and play with something to prove. We have yet to have a CDR type player in this program, and I still believe Cal is best when he's got one of these types for 3 or 4 years. Vick could easily fit that role.
We have 7 guys his size..would probably chase off some guys for next year. wont be a one and done..bring in the kid from Egypt. We need frontline help.
oh geez...... the old crystal ball again huh? lets see, the crystal ball said Zimmerman to UK, Brown to UK, JERRY MEYER and his crystal ball knows as much about it as my dog and his two neutered balls
Actually, it had Brown to Michigan and Zimmerman to UNLV. Had Newman to Mississippi State, and Ingram to Duke also. You don't read the crystal ball very well.
New rule: If you can't read the crystal ball, don't talk about the crystal ball.
More athletic than Fitch....Fitch might have been a better shooter tho...Reminds me a little bit of Gerald Fitch. If he could have anywhere near Fitch's impact we will be a good team.

I don't care about the crystal ball but it's kind of easy to get a school right when you pick every school on the kids list at one point. Just saying.
Clearly, you don't understand what the Crystal Ball is supposed to represent or what their objective for having it is.
Clearly I do. I understand it changes as does recruiting. I also understand it is more accurate towards the end of cycle. Usually by that point, everyone is saying the same thing.
Well maybe it's close to the end of this kid's recruiting cycle.
Let's both agree that I win, and move along.
To be fair, doesn't the kid have to decide in the next 2 weeks? Not that it's really a tough decision.
I don't know. Fitch was extremely athletic and it's hard to divine how good of a shooter Vick might be. From his highlight clip he never misses a shot.... so that's a good sign, right?More athletic than Fitch....Fitch might have been a better shooter tho...

Good read! Thanks for the update! From what I have heard from a few people (Just assume I am 100% FOS if you prefer),
Cal and the staff LOVE Vick's upside. His "committable" offer is contingent to him coming aboard for 2015. This goes back to Cal not being "handcuffed" by a team. Vick will not take minutes away from Matthews, Mulder, or Murray (If he makes it), but will be a valuable player on the bench and in practice with a leg up on next years roster.
The goal is to sign 2 more players for 2015. Both are expected to be either a 2, 3, or 4 for depth purposes. Other than Murray, these last 2 will not be counted on for instant help.
As I have tried to tell you guys (and also what the staff believes) is that in Ullis, Briscoe, Hawkins, Matthews, Mulder, Poythress, Lee, Willis, and Skal, Cal has his main rotation and backups already and is fully confident that we will be one of the last few teams remaining in crunch time just like the last 4 out of 5 years.
This will be one hell of a ride this year! If Murray does not decide to come aboard (Not as big of a deal as this board makes. Cannot wait for the bashing that comment gets lol), I cannot wait to see the battle between Mulder and Matthews for the starting spot next to Ullis, Briscoe, Poy, and Skal.
This team is built for success in COLLEGE as much (or more!) as nearly every other Cal team at Memphis or UK. It will take some of you a few weeks to see it at the beginning of the season, but once you do, you will be just as excited as I currently am!
TRUST IN CAL! HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING, HAS A PLAN, AND WILL PULL IT OFF JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER YEAR!
As I have hinted multiple times: For this team, Cal is building it for success in COLLEGE instead of the NBA. Having a team full of Mickey D's did not win the title, but there is more than one way to skin a cat!
I REALLY wish I could see the looks on the negative posters faces when they see what this team is capable of and what kind of talent Matthews, Mulder, and Briscoe bring to the table!
From what I'm hearing, Vick is better than mulder and matthews. If that's true Vick will play a huge role on next year's team. Also not getting Murray is a big blow. He's the best gaurd in the class. From what I have heard from a few people (Just assume I am 100% FOS if you prefer),

Well jerry meyer already said Murray would be inside the top ten for the 2015 class, which would put him ahead of guys like briscoe.Maybe if he was actually in the class, he could be in the discussion for the best in this class.
Tough to say that he's better than Matthews though. Both are very similar players, and Matthews has the better defensive ability.
