UK made Lipscomb look worse than they really are

Their 2-4 record looks bad, sure, and they're not a great team, but this was the first time they've really been blown out this season.

Arkansas was only up by 4 on these guys with 8 min to go, in Fayetteville.
WKU barely beat these guys. It was a one possession game with 30 seconds left, at Bowling Green.
Belmont beat them by 1 point.

They're not a bad team, and definitely not as bad as UK made them look. Our defense was very good. Lipscomb runs good stuff. They're the kind of team that would give a Calipari team fits, as was proven by their game in Fayetteville.

I agree, yes, we did. Another very savvy game plan for UK. Well executed and another efficient game. It appeared in several different ways this game.

Lipscomb hung well with Arkansas until late. Cals talent finally made up the difference, as it often does against the lesser teams of the world.

I'm glad we're not a "lesser team".

We are Kentucky!

Go Big Blue !

Not sure I agree 100%. I thought our defense wasn't very good at all. They had tons of wide open looks and easy basket chances. The first half, none of them were going in and we got separation. In the second half, lots of them went in, but ours were going in at a high rate as well.

Our defense was good. But still the feeling those open looks will come back to bite us in the a$$..

Yeah, not entirely sure what the OP was watching. Lipscomb had many wide open looks that they just flat missed. UKs offense is just too potent, which is why the score ended how it did.

But it no way, shape or form would I say that UKs defense was very good this game.

Hopefully Pope will get this cleared up as the season goes on, which I think he will to a certain extent. With all the weapons UK has offensively, the defense just needs to be slightly above average for UK to make a deep March run.

They definitely got work to work. We jacked up a few shots that wasn't earned, and we gave a ton of wide open 3s.

We're pretty good when we want to be on defense.

And offense we have a player thats like Curry from 3.
Brea start to season is even better than Reed's last year.
Brea and Reed would be absolutely the deadliest combo in the history of History.
More likely than not, though, is Brea doesn't come to UK if Sheppard returned.

Lipscomb was worn out due to their schedule, so the score may be a bit inflated, but the cats still win by 20 either way.

I’d say our offense is like Fireworks erupting continuously lol
Feels like we just keep showing them our "O" face the whole game ;)

Kentucky's constant movement on offense causes other teams to have to work harder on defense, which results in fatigue in the second half. Add to that the fact that Kentucky goes ten deep also wears teams out even more. If your legs are tired you won't shoot very well, even on wide open shots.

I mean they were picked to win their conference. They have played a pretty tough schedule so far. We were up by 40 when Pope cleared the bench with 8 minutes left.

If we had left the starters and main rotation guys in till the end like Arkansas was forced to do we probably 50 piece them.

They did have some open long threes but some of that was by design. What they didn't have were the shots their offense is designed to create, which are open back-door layups and dunks and easy 2s in and around the lane, which is their expertise. Look at their numbers and you'll see that these guys are not good 3pt shooters, other than a couple players. So, we were defending those back doors and easy straight line drives very well. Those long threes weren't falling, which kept us doing what we were doing. If those threes had started falling, our defense would have changed.

And as for the end of the game, the game was long over by then. The defense wasn't great at the end, but we were playing guys 8-12 at that point, which is no worry.

There's things about defenses that many never notice. When the defense pressures enough that the opposition has to start their sets a step or so further back than they are acustom to, shooting % drops, that's exactly what happened last night. Yes, they were open alot but out of their comfort zone, that's coaching.
