The University of Kentucky men’s basketball program has a vast history of success dating back to its first national championship in 1948.

Some decades are more prosperous than others in terms of final fours and championships.

1940s: 2 titles, 1 FF
1950s: 2 titles, 1 helms title*
1960s: 1 runner-up
1970s: 1 title, 1 runner-up, 1 NIT title
1980s: 1 FF
1990s: 2 titles, 1 runner-up, 1 FF
2000s: 0 titles, O FF
2010s: 1 title, 1 runner-up, 2 FFs
2020s: O titles, O Ffs

* Cats were undefeated in 1953-54 but were ineligible for postseason play

It seems like we have a bad decade every 20 years. Are we historically destined to struggle in the 2020s or is this merely coincidence?
 
Yes. Historically we have our best seasons when a Democrat is in the White House. Cal really let himself go.
