Kentucky has now offered SG LaGerald Vick.

At least two gurus expected Vick to commit to KU on or shortly after his visit. He hasn't (yet). Sounds like Cal wants to reel him in.

Cal is giving him something to think about before his visit. Will be wanting to take a visit to UK before he commits to KU if he was wanting to or be pressured too. They would be saying this is the best offer you have and will be playing for a winner. KU doesn't have a monopoly on that statement as we have come I to play.

That's why we offered Vick today, Vick's camp might of told the staff if we don't offer then they are going to commit to KU this weekend. Just don't know what's going in behind the scenes.

Also Vick has 5 star athletic ability but 4 star basketball skills but he is Improving a great deal and is an interesting prospect.

I would like a 6'7" SF who's physical and has some skill to shoot from the outside. If not, Poythress is fine and try to find a stretch 4/5. Skal stretches decently, maybe another guy who can hit a midrange shot.

Or possibly Murray just isn't reclassifying to 2015. Or he hasn't decided what he's going to do but Cal isn't going to wait & come up empty for 2015-16 season.

It in know way means Murray isn't interested because he is. But you cannot pass Vick up if he wants to come. He'd be a great addition &,give us a scoring wing

Since he is nothing more than a rewarded walk on and not a recruited player I left him out. If you look at who we have now we are def not a deep team by no means.

As a Sophomore, Vick would be really good!!

Practicing for a year against Briscoe, Matthews, Mulder, Poythress and Ulis and Hawkins could be just what this kid needs.

Hell, ya never know, he may come in and play a lot as a freshman...

If Vick commits, then I like having some options at the 3.

Unless Murray comes, we have no sure fire starter coming in at the 3 spot.

So we would have Mulder, Matthews, and Vick battling for that spot.

If one emerges as the man at the 3, we are in great shape.

If not we have three options to play. This would be similar to having Miller, Liggins, and Dodson in 2010.

I'm still hoping for Murray, though. He would put all three on the bench.

You guys are so obsessed with size. You don't need a 6'7 guy at the SF spot for a deep tourney run.

Five of the eight Elite Eight teams had 6'5 or smaller guards starting at the 3 spot, including the champs.

Three of the last five champs have had a 6'5 guard starting at the 3 spot.

Give me quickness over size next season. Our other four starters are built for speed (with Poy as a quick 4 instead of a big 3).

We need a guy that can handle, shoot, pass, and score at the 3. Murray would be perfect, but we will be fine with a Mulder/Matthews combo (and maybe Vick added in).

With Murray and Vick, Murray starts and Vick probably either redshirts or competes with Mulder and Matthews for backup minutes.

Our starting five looks like this, IMHO:

G Ulis
G Briscoe
G Murray
F Poythress
F Labissiere

Our bench would look like this:

G Hawkins
G Mulder or Vick
G Matthews or Vick
F Willis
F Lee

Lee would be sixth man. Mulder, Matthews, and Vick compete for backup minutes on the perimeter.

That team would be very good. Five clear cut starters, a solid reserve, and some role players on the bench.

Murray is ranked in the top 10 in the same class as Vick. He is definitely better, but I agree, we are probably underselling Vick.

Every time I post something like this people take it the wrong way. Of course Murray isn't concerned about Vick. I just don't think Cal is gonna have SEVEN guards in the lineup. So, if he doesn't think we are getting Murray, go ahead and offer Vick. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it.
