Another great day here in LEX as the Cats continue with prep for Mizzou. We’ll be over at the JCFTC shortly to bring you the latest from the defensive side of the ball. DC Matt House, assistant coaches and players will be joining us to talk about Mizzou’s high-powered offense and what UK’s nationally-ranked defense will do to slow down the Tigers.

We’re told practice will end a bit earlier today. Look for updates around 5:30 ET...

* Kash Daniel in a red no contact jersey at practice today. The protective club on his surgically repaired left hand is HUGE. Like a melon. House says “I think he’ll be fine.”

* Mizzou offense has been tweaked from previous years, but still explosive, House says. A lot of RPOs and a “special” QB. Sees coverages early well. Stands in the pocket and makes tough throws under pressure.

* House says you can’t just stay in a standard coverage against Lock. You have to mix it up. And you have to win your 1-on-1s.

* Cats have to tackle well after the catch. A ot of Mizzou’s big plays are on short stuff that turns long. “A lot of their explosive plays happens because people miss tackles on the quick game.”

* Davonte Robinson has earned a lot more PT with his play in practice, House said. Is really coming on strong. Some other guys making a push: Oats, Square, Looney, Wright.

* Staff has not discussed McCall redshirt situation, House said. “That’s just coach Stoops’ call.”

* House says the D has reached a pride level about giving up anything, and they’re going to find out a lot about themselves in this challenging matchup.

* Kash Daniel says his club his no big deal. He’ll be fine. He has to be sure and wrap up more, bear hug guys.

* Mizzou has great athletes who can hurt you in space, Daniel said.

* Asked about former Mizzou player’s tweet, Daniel says he pays that no attention at all. But he does concede the TD underdog status has the Cats looking to prove the doubters wrong again.

* OLBs coach Brad White says Mizzou is the best challenge they’ve faced to date, makes it tough on rushing the QB when they get the ball out so quickly, but the Cats won’t change anything they’ve been doing. It’s the same philosophy.

* White happy with what Boogie Watson is doing opposite of Josh Allen, giving them a complementary pass rusher, but he also noted that the interior D-Linemen are not getting the credit they deserve for the pressure they are creating. Those guys are doing it somewhat quietly.
