UK - EKU game thread

NGL Robinson is our best receiver at getting open and route running. Said the same thing last year. He’s light years ahead of Key and Brown with route running and arguably the most sure handed. Key and Brown just have the stars beside their names and the size so they are the “headliners”

Robinson is obviously older so hopefully Key and Brown develop in the route running department through this season and their JR years

That's not the point. We're still supposed to be "good". We obviously ain't.

And you have to catch that. Especially if you want to play on Sundays.

It depends on what you consider good. Today's performance doesn't mean we can't go 8 and 4 or 9 and 3. Don't think anyone with a real brain expects to beat Georgia, bama and UT.

Good means you win games you're supposed to convincingly. We will probably pull this out. But we have failed the eye test today.

Leary makes a good pass and follows it up with a bad pass/es. Needs to get a lot more consistent. If it isn't his bad throws it's missed catches. Thankfully we got a good pass and catch there to get the lead.

Yeah, he's solid for sure. As he keeps working the slot so well, hopefully it will open more up for Key and Brown on the outside...but Brown is going to HAVE to get better catching the ball when that happens.

For those who constantly defend our soft zone defense, please observe how EKU dbs and lbs knock our receivers off their routes which throws the timing off on pass plays.
Meanwhile, we never put a glove on their receivers and lay back and hope the other team makes an unforced error.
If you are going to play soft zone in the secondary, you HAVE TO PRESSURE THE QB.

Robinson has made plays when we absolutely needed them. The most concerning aspect has been how little we are able to move the EKU DL in the run game.

Leary is still missing touch passes. He has to make the easy throws count too.

If we end up winning 42-10 is it still a failure?

We do not have a single RB that can break a tackle at the line of scrimmage.

CRod ain't walking through that door.

Losing Khalifa Keith to UT was a killing blow to our RB room. 6'1" 230#s and sitting the bench in Knoxville. 5th. String right now.

Maybe he saw what we're seeing from this offense and the line

If they stay at UK

Glad the defense made a stance there hopefully the offense can continue to build on the last drive.

Walker and the DL have had a rough game. EKU is being allowed to hold pretty blatantly though. On third and long you could have called holding on half of their line.

Defense has been fine today. Need to get the pass rush buzzing more but they have played a good game. Offense needs to open up more

Missed tackle by Lovett. First down Colonels.
EKU runs right up the gut for 28 yards. First and goal Colonels.
3rd and goal from the 4 after a short run.
Good pressure UK. 4th down EKU.
10-7 Colonels.
Some actual info on the game.

Have we played well for most of this game? The answer is no. We've got 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. I expect EKU to give out at some point. But they've outplayed us for a lot of this game. And that's not acceptable.
Well, I agree. I was asking a question, not making a statement.
