UCF Transfer Keyshawn Hall is transferring to Auburn

Wow, Pearl has been hit with a show cause penalty, I guess that doesn’t affect these kids nowadays. It doesn’t matter if the coach has been caught cheating or the school has been investigated like North Carolina* with Wilson. Money talks, all of the reasons I don’t watch the NBA are now beginning to rule college basketball, it will never be the same.
you are correct, college sports will never be the same.....
tradition, coaching, fan support.....nothing matters except how much $ they can get
understand everyone wants top make the most $ they can, but something has to be done to somewhat level the laying field for the smaller schools & states

Most of the top players are NOT gone. Plenty left and will be more after the tournament is over. The transfer window is just beginning, there is a long way to go. We are going to sign 5, MAYBE 6 players. Some of you act like we will / should get EVERY portal player to enters. I can name 15 players who are studs that are still available.

Honestly I’d sacrifice the football program to go 0-12 if it meant returning to the Kentucky basketball that we are supposed to be. This kind of thing you’re talking about is half the problem in my eyes. We are a basketball school and if we have schools out here with a bigger budget than us it shouldn’t happen. Whichever bowl the football team goes to really doesn’t matter that much at the end of the day.
I'm kind of with you with this logic. The football program has had over 100 years to prove it can be winners and have not done so. The basketball program has proven it deserves all the money that the school can throw at it.

I agree. Football will never win anything. Over 9 million to a coach that doesn't even want to be here. Cut that salary in half and give the difference to nil
Better yet, let's just do away with our football program. Baseball, too. Sure they made it to the CWS this year, but haven't exactly been pushing for championships every year.
That would also send a good message to our other sports program to necessarily be competitive for a championship every year or you might be next.

A coach doesn't take the whole staff to have dinner at a guy's house unless he really wants him.

Never said we didn’t want him. But some of these guys (and their agents) think they are worth more than they are. Kind of like the 30-something chick who still looks good but has 4 kids by 3 different dudes.

You might think UK is being “cheap”. I call it being rational. Again… how many of the top ranked portal guys did diddly squat least year?

Yaxel Lendeborg - UK has a solid chance
RJ Luis
Ja' Kobi Gillespie
Isaac McNeely
Henry Vessaar - Kid from Arizona will be elite
Alvaro Folgneiras - UK may lead for him
Nait George - Very underrated PG from Georgia Tech
KJ Lewis - Another Arizona stud
Jaron Pierre - Very interested in UK. Averaged over 21 per game, 6-5 physical player. Can score off the bounce or finish over / thru you.
Kennard Davis - Love this kids game and physicality.
Reed Bailey
Lamar Wilkerson - Best shooter from 3 in college, a bucket.
Abdi Bashir - Monmouth -Hit 127 3s last year, 6-7 shooter. Not much on the defensive end, but could be a solid off the bench microwave scorer.
Barrington Hargress - UC Riverside guard averaged 20 per game, had a 30% assist rate. See Bashir above. Has 2 years left also.
Kanon Catchings - BYU - 6-9 shooter, would be a ideal player is a floor spacing offense.
Quimari Peterson - East Tenn. - Shot 47% on catch and shoot 3s. 42% overall. Averaged 4.5 rpg / 3.8 apg / 2 steals per. Will be a JR. Can shake ANYBODY.
Bol-Bowen - FSU - UK has a solid chance. 6-10 rim protector, can shoot.

Several of the guys I listed where only sophomores or freshmen last year. Land some multi year guys, will not have to deal with mass portal signings every year. Can be selective and patient, sign best players possible at position of need. JMO.

Huh? Our entire team this past season raved about how much more confident in themselves Pope made them. Dudes like Oweh, Jax and Lamont were talking about it constantly.

I guess you missed the first halves of almost all games, and the highly motivating locker room speeches. Or what about the countless possessions where guys just stood around waiting for someone else to do something (ie, rebounds), set picks. Or, all those games where we were about to blow out the opponent, but instead took our foots off the gas and made those games unnecessarily close or even lost the game. We can keep doing this. He's not going to be much different when meeting these recruits, unless he's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hide. Recruits walk away from these meetings with impressions, ya know.

I have to admit, that pregame speech before that Auburn game didn't exactly make me feel confident we were going to beat Auburn.

Many people just jump to the conclusion that pope and uk "failed" if a kid goes elsewhere after uk coaches visit them. I think it is far more likely that the kid likes another situation better, which is not popes fault. I prefer pope be honest about his plans for him and the situation the player will walk into. Overall uk will be better off.

But the question that is begged is why hasn't any player from the portal player bought into the Pope's "plan for him/situation the player will walk into".
At some point you have to sell a kid your vision for them.
Cal was a bad floor coach but was a master at this.

I guess we can start handing out participation trophies then.
