Typical Cal ... loses Exhibition to TCU

Little bit different levels of competition though to be fair. Robinson’s conference shooting percentages have been pretty poor everywhere he’s been. Though I don’t think anyone doubts Kentucky will be a better shooting team overall for sure.
Man, Arkansas fans have it bad right now. They don’t realize that Cal won’t get them anywhere near where Muss got them. They took a step backwards.

Leaves a TCU shooters wide open for 3 with like 20 seconds to go, bad passes in their final possession leads to an out of bounds play with 2 seconds to go, you already know its over when Cal has to draw up an out of bounds play to win with 2 seconds to go.

Fland gets a HORRIBLE look and it's not close. They lose by 1.

Edit : Arkansas with zero points in the last 3 1/2 minutes and shoots 29% from 3 with 14 turnovers lmao.

There's that great non coaching uk has been treated too for some many years. So glad the double talking used car salesman is gone

That’s normal for Cal and Davis should’ve seen that from 10 miles away. Nobody takes mins from Cal’s boys or Cal’s freshmen! He would’ve been useful on any other team and Pope would’ve used him to his fullest ability!
I bet these kids are told all sorts of things by different programs and its fans, but they'll NEVER listen. They've been put on a pedestal since they were little.

Oh no I don't feel sorry for Johnell like someone said he should of seen that coming a mile away. Cal has to make sure DJ and Fland start, get 30 plus minutes a game, green light at all times and drafted next year. I'm sure Johnell who is a 5th year player has to be thinking about that and questioning his decision.

Just imagine him with Oweh out there in this system. Poor Johnell it could of been but now you will be behind Cal's chosen in DJ and Fland in starts, minutes and shots all year.

Plenty of tired ass old Cal-isms in this one. Give the other team credit, needed a game like this, they're not machines and robots.
He has that I got my behind whipped again look on his face, but the Arky press gave him a pass on it, they are all love birds now...but that is "stuff"he spews out is just like the "stuff" they got to work on until his "culture " is in place

None of those compare to his ego in my opinion. Cal’s ego is a huge monster that outcoaches him every single time he faces it in any environment.

Pope has a great quote (that I’m sure is not his own). He says EGO stands for “edging greatness out”. In other words, you might be good but you’ll never be as great as you CAN be if you let your ego get in the way. That is Calipari in a nutshell.

Link to the someones cell phone recording of the game. The score is not shown much, occasional pan up to the board.

Same old Cal the best players in the country yet cannot win a exhibition game at home, glad he coaching at Ark and not Ky.

That is a pathetic turnout. Also how long until Cal realizes Big Z isn’t a post player. He’s never going to dominate position or be a defensive or offensive force positing up. He’s at his best marking help plays and roaming around the perimeter stretching the floor and using his passing. Typical Cal team can’t even knock down wide open shots.

Arkansas could somehow get a 24pt lead on us in the 3rd quarter and I'd still be confident we'd be leading when the final buzzer sounds (well in our actual game in the SEC lets say 12 minutes to go in the game since we dont do quarters yet)
So question, Will we start to see more favorable whistles since Mark Pope is largely a very likable guy? will the refs start to screw Arkansas more now that they have Cal at the helm? Will that bode well for us in our game against them later this year?

Wait. Why was this allowed?

It used to be that you could play two typical Div-2-or-lower teams and sell tickets.

OR, alternatively, you could choose to play ONE div-1 opponent in a “secret scrimmage,” behind closed doors, untelevised, and you couldn’t sell tickets.

Why does Arky get to play KANSAS and TCU BOTH and put both on TV?

If nothing else that’s unfair because think about the revenue. A TCU game or a KU game is going to get way better ratings than a Wesleyan or a Minnesota State Mankato Whatever That Is game. And obviously in the modern era higher TV ratings equals higher value ESPN contract equals more revenue which is surely all going into NIL.

And even if I’m guessing wrong about there being a difference in TV revenue, there’s still unquestionably a difference in ticket sales revenue. We had Rupp “mostly full” for our two exhibition games, is what I heard. Something like 20,000 seats filled. You know as well as I do Rupp would have been bursting at the seams if we’d played Kansas. And can you imagine what UKAthletics would have charged for that seat? Coz darned straight people would pay it.

How is that fair?

And if it is fair why didn’t we do this?

EDIT: Okay. I see the TCU game is a charity game. So that takes care of the revenue problem. Still not sure why they can put Kansas on TV or why we wouldn’t follow suit.
I think all of those type exhibitions have to be for Charity, both the Kansas and TCU game were. But I'm still unclear on what the rule is that allows the games to be played to begin with, and how often can teams do it?

I loved the "we only have 5 guys to practice". Lol. And, "we either win or we learn".

Arkansas fans better get used to a lot of "learning" if games are close in the second half.

A 13 point lead is not enough to overcome Cal's lack of coaching/preparation against the better coaches.
Only have five guys to practice? Who the hell's fault is that?

Wow. Those chicken farmers must have some seriously deep pockets if they’re offering all that NIL money AND blowing off 100% of the money they could be making for exhibition games.

If it’s legitimately all for charity I guess that means the TV revenue goes to charity too.

Looks like all the money went to children’s charities. Good on them.
