You mean the Kansas State team that will be playing a game on November 30 to go the Playoff? Nah they’re no good.
You play the teams on your schedule. That game was scheduled a few years in advance is my guess.
Hope JS replaces Stoops whenever he decides to leave!
Not sure that is what you really want today. With the portal and NIL teams lack the depth they had 2-3 years ago, kids want to see the field. Even UT has slowed things down to make it easier on its defense. CMS has had SEC level first liners, but has never had the trusted depth he wants to open thing up offensively. I know that isn't what you want to read, but wide open offense may not be what you really want.
Unfortunately UK still has a segment of its fan base that would rather lose 45-42 than win 20-17.
I may jinx him, but took Tulane -14. A little worried, Charlotte is not as bad as their record shows. They should have beat Memphis @ Memphis last week. They went up 28-24 with 1:20 to go, Memphis takes in down and scores with 31 seconds left. They are 7-1 and only loss is @ Navy. Maybe Tulane sees tape of that and knows it can happen to them, it is @ Charlotte.
I'm not one of those, but we're not winning either way. In today's game you have to average more than 14-17 pts to win consistently.
I am not disagreeing that a quick strike offense is fun to watch as a fan, it absolutely is. And as a coach I have superior depth I like them too. But if I am not confident in my depth, will those quick strike scores be against me when I have to sub?
Fans didn't like it, but CMS's best years was when he shortened the game and limited possessions with an elite running game behind an elite OL. UK lost their OL coach and things started to change offensively. Brought in transfers at QB who were suppose to be passers, WR to stretch the field. From an outside view it looks like CMS tried to change offensively but at this point it has been a disappointment.
I know UK fans want a change, and it very well could be time, that's for UK administration and boosters to decide, but change isn't always an upgrade, you can look at the old SEC East to see that. Good luck with which ever route UK takes.
Or else Eddie Gran would still be the OC…. Blew my mind how much ppl were complaining after a 10 win season and then a run dominant 8 win season that 3 losses came pre Lynn Bowden option switch.
Stoops only switched OCs bc the noise of “we have to be more balanced to take the next step…what WRs and QBs will want to play here…blah blah”. Since then, we’ve had no identity other than Levis and CRod basically running RPO when Coen ditched the wide zone blocking scheme in week 4
I think you are mis-understanding my wanting a more wide open offense. I don't necessarily want a 100mph offense. Just one that isn't so predictable.
I know you are right Grumpy. But changing from Mark to Kirby seems to be working pretty well, don't you think?

Stein is from Louisville grew up UK fan but walked on at UL. Coached a number of years in Texas. He isn’t some west coast OC like Hamdan.
Sumrall is a UK guy...He won't turn us down. He would walk to get here. I also don't know if it wouldn't be a destination job for him. I think he would retire here. I select few jobs might sway him like Bama but that list is extremely short. I don't know if he would leave for them either.
I would like to have a coach that dreams of a job bigger than us. A guy that does so well that big name want to hire him.
Do you think if Gran was still the offensive coordinator that we would be winning with the same players that we have now? Line still sucks, and then we are one dimensional, I agree that we should have given more leash to Gran to add plays and open the playbook more when we were winning. I think we would have been fine with Coen if he would have stayed and maybe been HC in waiting.
I want a coach that wants to be at UK. I want him to be so successful that others want to hire him but he chooses to stay. I think Sumrall is that guy.
Sumrall WILL NOT turn down UK. I vividly remember he was on Finebaum show few years ago while at Troy, and after the interview Finebaum dropped a , paraphrasing...."everyone i talk to in the south says Sumrall is the next big coach"
As a UGA fan I can certainly appreciate want less predictable considering Bobo scrips his plays, it's just the same script every week.
This is a great insight. To be fair.
1. Stoops first citrus bowl team (2018) with Benny Snell/Josh Allen was running the ball, playing defense, shortening game, etc.... But to be honest, we got a lucky ass win vs. Mizzou to propel that season and we stalled out badly vs. better teams.
2. Stoops second citrus bowl team was really a balanced running behind CROD and then Levis/Wandale Robinson really controlled the passing attack as much. That defense we decent but not near as good as 2018 defense. Now Schlarman passed away the year before....but it's mainly his developed Oline that drove that Oline.
So while I get things are trending down at UK....I think controlling the LOS with Schlarman (the oline coach) was a huge part of it. We needed a balanced running and passing attack....not just throwing the ball all over the place. Unfortunately, we have not replaced Schlarman very well at all in 4 years since his passing....I think that is our main issue (and I don't think Stoops will get the chance to replace him).
Tulane might be a better job than UK. Doesn't pay as well but a chance for more wins and better shot at the playoffs.
