Saw this on FB. Can anyone confirm if this is true ?

Former Kentucky head coach Tubby Smith, who led the Wildcats to a national championship in 1998, has pledged a generous $3 million donation to support the future of Kentucky basketball.
The announcement came after Smith, who coached Kentucky from 1997 to 2007, watched the Wildcats’ recent game against Arkansas.

ChatGPT pro says:
"Yes, this information appears to be accurate. Multiple sources, including forum discussions and news snippets, confirm that Tubby Smith, the former Kentucky Wildcats head coach who led the team to a national championship in 1998, has pledged a $3 million donation to support the future of Kentucky basketball. The announcement reportedly came after Smith attended a recent game between Kentucky and Arkansas. This generous contribution highlights Smith's continued connection to the program and his commitment to its success."

I doubt it's real. I don't think Tubby made enough as a coach to give away $3 million. I know he donated $1 million to High Point a few years ago, but that's his alma mater where he played and coached. $3 million seems quite high for a guy who I don't think ever made more than that in a season when he coached.

He definitely made enough over his entire coaching career to give away that much. He's probably had several excellent investment opportunities over the years as well.

This. People forget how much damn money CBB coaches make. Even ones that aren’t in the limelight. Shoot some smaller D1 coaches are making six figures easy. We all chose the wrong line of work.

Kentucky banks and insurance industry have always been the grease in the Big Blue Machine (Sorry Crafts). Former coaches and players have always had a spot if they wanted after basketball. So it no surprise they would have made some very lucrative investments. Pay attention to the sponsors-- Whittaker bank, KY Farm Bureau, etc.
