The thing is, Arkansas is feeling the "high" that we felt the first decade or so with Cal.

Good for them.
If Arkansas is feeling the high of beating the worst Kansas team in 20 years and surviving the worst shooting game St Johns could've possibly even had they're going to be disappointed big time later in life with Cal.

Cal definitely seems motivated again, if I was them I would be worried much like here that he turned it around and if they get far he will feel like he accomplished what he needed too. That may lead him to get lazy again but he got that done(like our championship.)

I'm not so sure they're feeling a "high" given their recent success in the tourney under Muss, but I bet they are feeling relief.

They are feeling a high because like Cal at UK, they were kind of done with Muss. And Arkansas fans were absolutely in the dumps a few months ago thinking Cal was about to get smoked in his first year.

I'm guessing they are VERY happy with the Sweet 16.

he at least looks healthier. he’s probably lost 30 lbs. didn’t figure that for him in ark lmao

I’ll take our program trajectory over Arkansas’s.

Cal’s first year in Fayetteville will be the norm. Will underachieve most of the season, turn it on towards the end, and rely on luck in the tournament to advance.

Meanwhile, we have an offensive genius who will always be one step ahead of his opponent.

If we lose to the Vols and Cal beats Texas Tech I promise you that you haven't seen the last of them. We need to take care of business next w
there will always be trolls when we lose.

i’m addressing the narrative that there is regret, envy or bitterness. it’s hard to see it now. both teams ended up with what most consider a successful season being in the regional with a shot at a ff. the chances that either uk or ark win the title are pretty low.

I get what you're saying but I'm not sure you remember that first decade under Cal correctly.

Like him or not, UK's initial run under Cal was historic, and Arkansas fans have no idea what that "high" feels like after a single S16 appearance in one season.

They feel good, but not THAT good. It's apples and oranges IMO.

The high of finishing 8th in the SEC and losing double digit games with the highest NIL budget must be something.

As to Cal and Arkansas, their fans are about to be treated to “the greatest day in Arkansas basketball history,” when a couple of their players go high in the draft.

I’m so happy they have Caliperi!!

And honestly, it has been good for Cal and us.

I honestly think CCC was losing his health and his mind from 2019-2024. The same time period I watched, maybe, 5 complete basketball games.

This perfectly sums up my UK basketball fan experience for that time period.

I knew I was checked out mentally when I neither fully watched nor socially invested in games anymore. Personally, that was an all-time low re my relationship with UK bball.

I'm not sure how much if any blame should be attributed to Covid for what happened, but I was finally ready for a leadership change after Oakland.

That said, I'm grateful for both the good times and how things turned out with Cal, so no hard feelings here!

Pope took a team built from the portal in a couple of weeks with basically no recruits and had a good season in the toughest conference in maybe our lifetime. He now has that same team in the Sweet 16.
Cal took our remaining team from last season, his recruits, a leftover from Arkansas, and a few really good transfers and sucked for most of the season. He was one more loss from missing the tournament completely. Had an easier path in the tournament than us too.
Cal got fat and lazy here and quit, period! He’s lost weight and as the commentator mentioned in his last game he has lost weight since going to Arkansas because he “doesn’t have as many friends” there. Those were Cal’s words on his weight loss. So in my opinion he was forced to focus on his job for a change.
I’m glad he’s gone!!
