It’s possible but from the announcement I guess it’s not expected .Is there a chance he is just in the portal to see what kind of offers/money gets thrown his way and may still return to UK?
Is that even possible?

I don't disagree with that at all but to discount the allure of playing for Kentucky as an instate kid is not diminished by money as was my original assertion.I think staying home and playing for the team you grew up cheering for can still matter when other things are pretty equal. If we’re being honest though, Johnson and Moreno project as higher level players than Perry. They have a realistic path to playing time at Kentucky.
What we’re probably going to see a huge decrease in with the portal is players willing to get 4 years of mop up minutes just for the privilege of wearing a jersey when they could actually play meaningful minutes somewhere else.
IMO there are other KY kids that would accept that role and pay that are playing D1 or D2 elsewhere.Super disappointing. No one is coming here to wait their turn type of thing. Everyone expects to play immediately and I can’t blame them. Sucks to lose a Kentucky kid though.
He gonna take a big pay cut.Riding the pine for your dream school making 6 figures a free car to drive and competing for minutes while being big man on campus must be just awful. Good luck to him.
Do you think he will get playing time at the schools that have been mentioned as landing spots? Ole Miss? I've heard WKU and Cincinnati as well.I don't see the big deal about this. He's not an SEC type player and needs to be at a smaller school.
Was Perry recruited by Cal or Pope to actually come get meaningful minutes? IMO he was recruited because of who he was almost like a free pass to the greatest tradition in college basketball. Every time he hit a shot the crowd would go crazy because he was looked at like a walk on. Perry was never supposed to come be a big time player for us. He would have the walk on treatment all four years if he stayed. Touches the ball “ shoooooot”I don't disagree with that at all but to discount the allure of playing for Kentucky as an instate kid is not diminished by money as was my original assertion.
I used to believe something like this, but the point where that all changed was, sadly, the suicide of Melvin Turpin.Popularity , investments , networking , business offers , never having to buy a drink, On and On BBN loves its own . But you know that , why ask ?
Many more examples other than Mel.I used to believe something like this, but the point where that all changed was, sadly, the suicide of Melvin Turpin.
I remember one of his family members giving a quote to the effect of: "He was having a difficult time adjusting to just being a regular person as his celebrity waned."
He made $1.7m in the NBA (and this was about 40 years ago), and he found himself working as a security guard at UK. He wasn't "set up for life" like people want to believe. It takes more than just being a former player because people aren't going to take care of these guys forever just because they (are local talents that) played for the Cats.
There’s so many schools on this list I would hate for him to go to. Just go to western and get your shots up man
Interesting list for sure. I can’t see him getting many more shots than UK at most of these schools. There’s so many schools on this list I would hate for him to go to. Just go to western and get your shots up man
No. But when Noah and Chandler did their "back for year 2" media runs and Perry didn't have one, it should have been a very clear message he was leaving. Noah and Chandler made social media announcements they was returning. Perry - crickets. I figured he was leaving when he didn't follow them.Noah next?
Oh.All of them may have recruited him but I bet they don't now that they have seen him play D1 ball
