Travis Branham was on Sources Say tonight. Lots of info given. Here are the sparknotes:
Wagner: obviously Kentucky is in a great spot. Not ruling out Louisville yet. Trying to be thorough and cautious. Says he’s ducking the question, but reiterates Kentucky is in a great spot. Said Kentucky probably didn’t recruit Isaiah Collier to avoid upsetting Wagner.
Bradshaw: Kentucky is in a good position but it’s been dead silent. Buzz coming back around for Kentucky. He’s probably going to visit USC and Texas. Mom wants him to see every option. Likes Kentucky’s chances but this one will take time. Says there are some concerns if Oscar comes back for another year, basically says Bradshaw and Oscar can’t play together. Ugonna will take a couple years in his opinion.
Holland: doesn’t like Kentucky’s chances. Texas has a lot of buzz. Arkansas has received a lot of buzz. UCLA is a dark horse. Kentucky running fourth.
Dillingham: bucket getter. Most entertaining player in 2023 class. 6’1 160 (maybe) pounds. Makes tough shots. Him and Pilgrim joke that he could give Calipari health problems. “Beautifully chaotic” - Pilgrim
Edwards: Branham is a huge fan of his. Super versatile and skilled. Really good athlete. Can be used in a variety of roles at a high level. Needs to make sure his motor is always going.
Reed: skilled and high IQ. Can make shots and play on the ball. Great decision maker. Didn’t have the summer they wanted to see out of him but still high floor.
2024
Boogie Fland: one to really watch for Kentucky. Likes where Kentucky stands there.
Karter Knox: Cal visited. A lot of interest.
Tre Johnson: in a good spot. Some Texas buzz right now.
Ian Jackson: great standing. Says he ultimately ends up in 2023. If DJ Wagner comes, other schools are lurking to try to poach him. Good spot, but a lot to play out.
Zoom Diallo: pilgrim says Kentucky has put out feelers. Branham said he’s the best pg in the class. Reminds him of Scoot Henderson, not him but reminds him with the explosiveness.
Tahaad Pettiford: tough but undersized. Very explosive.
Flory Bidunga: don’t dig too deep. Complicated. Just no for Kentucky.
John Bol/Somto Cyril: fine big prospects. Kentucky evaluating both. Bol moves very well for his size, good shot blocker, needs to get stronger. Very good prospect. Somto is a grown man. Great athlete. Plays really hard. If Kentucky went hard for Somto they’d probably get him, in 23 or 24 if they want him.
Travis Perry: Michigan on him really hard. Not a lock for Kentucky by any means. He’s pretty open. Might not be a fit. Kentucky recruiting a lot of guards.
2025
Kentucky will try for Cooper Flagg. Duke seems to have Boozer locked up. Kentucky will be involved with Daryn Peterson (Branham adds he’s a NJ Scholars kid with a nod).
