I like your optimism. The problem is that the Mizzou defense is going to probably have upward of 6 sacks in the game (if significant blocking and play call changes are not made). Our tackles need help on the edges, and Towles often tries to run out of the pocket to his right rather than step up and finish his progressions. That makes the job for our line even more difficult.Bounces back with a really good game against Mizzou. Cats win against the tigers!
Towles is what he is. He was overhyped by the media. He is prone to mistakes. On paper, is exactly the type of QB that NFL teams are looking for. In reality, he lacks the intangibles to ever be a great QB. I say that being one of the people that doesn't think he should be replaced. Until there is an o-line in place, a pocket passer is going to be destroyed. If Barker is the future, it would be nice if he kept his head.
Agree with most of this. Only disagree with the OL - they aren't great but they are serviceable...they will give up a couple sacks a game, but with Towles the number at least doubles because of his slow progressions and decision making. I'd also insert Barker to get his feet wet, and if there isn't much difference I'd let him run with the rest of the season.
He's a fanboy. He's been all PT - all the time since before last year. I don't mind positivity, but he seems nonobjective about PT, like he's personally invested in PT's success as a QB.do you have any analysis that points to this or are you just full of hope and giggly sunshine ?
Honestly I have to ask bounces back to what? average? Will an average Towles beat Mizzou? I don't know. By now I feel he's a Michael Porter (not the underage thing) from basketball, he may have a good game occasionally but his skills are not good enough to compete with the better teams. and our coach is in love with him so he'll play forever.
Critical thinking isn't your strong suit, huh?![]()
Pat, give 'em all a nice big $&()burger to eat!
Until Stoops demotes him he is our qb. Right or wrong I'm supporting the guy the coach puts out there.
Oh, now you are just hurting my feelings.Critical thinking isn't your strong suit, huh?
I don't know where the judgment of Towles taking too long comes from. Yes, on some plays he stands in there and might still take a sack, but most of the sacks come from complete whiffs by the OL. The interception in the USC game, Towles had zero time to set his feet. The Baker dropped pass in the FL game, Towles is hit in the head just moments after finishing his drop. The first sack he gets hit quickly (although he did mess up by not going forward on that one). The second sack in the FL game he is again flushed from the pocket before he can set his feet. Most of them are that way. These aren't coverage sacks. They are almost all OL breakdowns.
