I suspect the average age of fans calling for Stoops to get fired now is below 30 because anyone who has been a fan since the Claiborne era, or thereabouts, knows that even after this substandard year we are still 1-2 standard deviations above mean. That opinion seems rash and lacks historical perspective. I would forgive anyone who started their fandom during the Stoops regime.
Having said that, I am not trying to diminish the feeling of deep frustration, as I am right there with you, but I am not giving up hope. I will still watch every game and will be looking for some hope in the effort of the players and their desire to get the ship turned around. Stoops deserves another season, even if we could afford to fire him and I suspect the feeling of being trapped by an insurmountable buyout may contribute to the frustration.
It will be interesting to see if Stoops walks away, but I think that is not likely, as he will want to walk out after a good season to cement his legacy here and he deserves that.
