Top 5 NIL College Basketball Players

Kills the narrative from Tennessee fans that they beat us out for Lanier without having to pay him top dollar. Looks like we forced them to dig deep and it actually seems like we nearly pulled it off while offering way less.
What did we offer?

Was watching Fox News and they talked with Tommy Tuberville about this. I believe there will be some changes next year. JMO
Good. This is disgusting. It needs to be contractual, and multi-year, getting part of it at completion of each and based on meeting criteria.

Edit: it seems to me that there needs to be a cap, and based on player ranking at position, and I really would like to see something like a minimum of two years. Get half of it after year 1. If a kid only wants to play one year in college, and is willing to go to some garbage school, then let him or just allow kids to go straight to the pros from high school again.

No big-boy Great Osobor?

I thought Washington tossed him $2 million?
These are unverified numbers that are generated by an algorithm. If Osobor doesn't fit into the algorithm based on social media followers and a few other metrics, then his "valuation" won't reflect what he may actually be receiving. The $2m figure is probably also inflated due to it being distributed over longer than 1 year.

I like Robinson. He seems like a really good kid. But he’s not nearly as good as I was expecting. I can see why he was advised to go back to school.

I had a pretty good feeling that it was a bad idea to make BYU's 6th man our best player. Never made sense. Still doesn't.

3.3 million for a teen to play basketball. Meanwhile, the kid who will be a great physician needs to just get a scholly for undergrad (partial if she goes to Duke and fits the right demographic) and then probably needs to finance med school and will be underpaid during her residency and fellowship. We form collectives for high school kids to play sports. Non profits are meanwhile pounding the streets so they can make a difference for those in real need. Most local nonprofits would love a 3.3 million dollar budget. Good thing there are no needy people in Raleigh/Durham so they can use that money for a teenager with outstanding basketball skills.

The school, the league, the NCAA, and ESPN/ABC make a lot of money broadcasting Flagg and squawking redundantly about him, yet a collective and some true NIL pays this number.

I can't imagine an 18 year old being paid 3.3m to play for a team and have to answer why you had two key turnovers at the end of the game to lose.

Its pay for play, and these kids are going to find out what it means to a pro. Imagine if those schools representing the top 5 don't see a championship game this year.

I won't say Ky will never have a kid on that list but I like that we don't now, it shows some balance and talent evaluation by our coaching staff.

I thought Robinson would be just as good honestly but he isn’t on his level. He’s good but he can’t take over a game.

I'll take the most efficient scoring guard in college basketball every year as my best player. Granted, they have some decent measurements, etc. Lanier fit the bill on pretty much everything. Robinson has basically hovered around his career percentages each season, 40% from the field, 33% from 3. Under no circumstances do you bring that kid in at Kentucky to be your best player. With all of that said, I still think he has a lot of talent and upside.
