Titans new stadium approved

Why cities have to fork up so much when the NFL teams are worth billions is perplexing. And Nashville is growing so much...their transportation infrastructure is in need of a huge investment....but they're good with doing a stadium

The Titans will contribute $840 million in private financin g, including roughly $200 million in NFL loans and yet-to-be estimated revenue from personal seat license sales. Recent PSL revenue average for new stadiums has topped $500 million, according to a market analysis from a consulting firm hired by Metro.

Stadium design:New NFL stadiums have a space-age look, why doesn't the Titans?

The state of Tennessee will contribute $500 million in bonds alongside $760 million in revenue bonds from Nashville's Sports Authority. Those bonds will be paid using diverted sales tax in and around the stadium as well as a 1% hotel tax increase that could bring in upwards of $10 million each year. Leftover revenue from diverted sales and ticket taxes and ticket fees from non-NFL events — estimated to approach $3 billion over the duration of the 30-year lease — will be devoted to early bond repayment and ongoing stadium maintenance and upgrades.

lol another 1% on hotels that are already into the thousands regularly. I hate that overpriced garbage town with a passion.
Well this should also make the Music City Bowl and Nashville a bigger player in the future of college playoffs too. I didn't see any mention of it - but wouldn;t it make sense for Vanderbilt to use it for home games as well? Everyone knows Vanderbilt needs to step up its game day facilities. Tennessee and Nashville are growing like crazy and this will make it an even more attractive destination for many businesses and conventions in the future.

This is actually not a bad deal for the city or state. Both will have a net gain a few yrs after it is completed. And taxes aren't being raised. The Titans are putting millions into the project.

Also, it is not just a stadium. They are modeling it off of Sofi and what the Braves did. The Braves damn near built a new town around the stadium. Billions if revenue will be generated

Titans will just continue to not win anything that matters in it. This franchise is pitiful and on the rare occasion they get a 1 seed and look like a super bowl contender the ravens or Bengals make the titans their biatch.

Possibly. Still hate that damn city.

Think about this, I played in the 1976 Peach Bowl in Atlanta-Fulton County stadium!
It was a great game for the fans too Joe! But I about froze to death as UK fans were in the shaded side of the stadium. Temperature was like 25 degrees different from the sun side lol! How was it on the field?

Go Big Blue!

I remember a balmy 73 degrees sitting on my couch in my parent’s home.

North Carolina didn’t know what hit them that day.

Vandy is in the process of sinking some money into their stadium. It would probably seem empty and cavernous to have them in the new stadium.

Yeah- I guess Vandy doesn't think like the rest of the league - if you build it they will come. Small stadiums mean small crowds. Its going to be hard for Vandy to compete in the future as the other 15 teams are continuing to expand their football facilities. I know they are a long time member - but they might consider if they want to remain in the SEC. At some point the league could look to become stronger in sports. Vandy has had a great baseball program - but do they bring much to the conference outside of that sports wise? Unfortunately, like many other things now, the past doesn't seem to mean much as to the future.

Go Big Blue!

Guessing NFL will give them a SuperBowl within a couple seasons of being completed and with a 12 team colllege playoff coming they will be a player to host something also.

Nissan Stadium is pretty much a dump with nothing around it at this point. Huge project but will be cool to see when it's finished.

Really? Downtown Nashville is around it. Finished product will resemble the stadium in Las Vegas officials have said.

I used to love it about 10-15 years ago. But now it's losing all its character. Downtown was cool when it was all dives and hole in the walls.

I lived there in 2008-2009 and downtown was already 75% hot dog water. East side was okay. It all sucks now.

I live in Franklin and pretty much avoid Nashville unless we are going in there for a sporting event. Love where I live, though.

Super Bowl. Men's Basketball Final Four. WrestleMania. CFP. SEC Football Championship. More concerts in the winter.

It will make the city/state back all the money then some (just like the Music City Center did - people complained about that a decade ago).

I agree the transportation and infrastructure needs to improve, but this will be good for the area. And can you imagine if Kentucky played in the Final Four a few hours from Lexington? Amazing.

Maybe after it is built the city can reserve it for 1 Sat night a yr for National Bachelorette Extravaganza? 80,000 bridezillas and maids of honor in their 20's consuming way too much alcohol and screaming "WHOOOO!!!" for 4 hrs.

Quarantine them all there, instead of all over downtown every Sat night in NashVegas

I grew up in Franklin. Moved for college in 2004. Honestly I’m more of a country type guy so I hate what Franklin has become. When they pushed Dotson’s out, it told me where the town was heading.

Competition and revenue. The story of life.

I can appreciate what you’re saying. Still love it here, though.

I used to love going to Nashville just to goof off back in the 90’s. Downtown has changed, and not for the better IMO. The fact that mainstream country music has been absolute trash for 30 years now probably isn’t helping.

But the Titans now have Will Levis. You must have forgotten.
