Not so much what Cal did but what Pitino didn’t do that got him outcoached. He didn’t run zone for a team that couldn’t throw it in the ocean from deep.

He’s been getting out coached by cal for over a decade. Cal’s just owns him. It’s a simple
Fact. A person can make all the excuses for Rick in the world but at the end of the day cal breaks it off in him like 95% of the time

Certain teams don't matchup well with others.. Kentucky and Tennessee has been a great matchup.. Auburn and Alabama have not..

Cal just owns Pitino. Idk if it's in Pitinos head or what, but feels like Cal is like 14-3 against him since 2010.

I do think Pitinos time is limited. There were times this year it almost felt like he was ready to jump ship. That's why we couldn't hire him (in regards to the thread about hiring him).. he doesn't have many years left. Never made sense.

I think Rick is showing his age a little. Has nothing to do with today’s game. If he could be happy outside of coaching, I think he would be well served to retire. However, he seems like the kind of guy who wouldn’t cope well not coaching.

Also, can we say that even the greatest coaches can makes big mistakes? Pitino took out its leading scorer, with its other shot creator out. That's a very strange move, as you never know when your leading scorer might get shots to fall.

And while this was am egregiously bad move, every single loss in the tournament is likely due to a coach making some mistake on some level. It's why I always found the argument of "why didn't Cal play Ulis against Wisconsin?" to be silly.

I'm not sure if he retires or not, but that's not quite far away from 3-33 territory in an NCAA tournament game. we know all about that kind of lid on the rim scenarios in a tournament game.

Pitinio just another coach that got an extraordinary cold shooting team lose in a one and done tournament. I was alright that he brought St. John's back this year and hope he stays for at least another year for them. Keep thwarting the UConn's of the world. But I dunno how much longer we will see the Pitino and barnes any more.

we shall see.

I'm just grateful we got Coach Pope.

Cal knocked out two HOF coaches, back to back, to start the tournament. That said we’ve been bad for stretches of the season, we lost some close games, but make no mistake nobody is thinking “good, we drew Arkansas” the rest of the way. We aren’t who we were, or even who we’ve been, who we are right now is a problem. Tech is good, I’d be really surprised if we got by them, but it won’t be an easy night at the office I know that.

I saw Cal running the same play over and over, give the ball to Fland or DJ, screen them into the lane and let them lay it up or have Aidoo there for an easy pass or rebound by Brazile. They couldn’t stop it. If they switched to the big man in the post either Richmond or Knox scored from the wing area.

You all definitely have the talent to go far now. You just better hope Cal doesn’t get into a game he has to make adjustments if his talent is getting stopped. That was our biggest gripe. If you get games where DJ and Fland can run the same weave or Screen over and over then you will win. As soon as a team figures out Cal goes under every screen on defense and they knock down some shots it could be trouble.
