Spent all day talking to folks about some situations we've been monitoring.
** I do believe Kentucky will get Kiyaunta Goodwin. However, I do believe that there has been some drama down the stretch. Not going to get into a lot of details because frankly I don't think people want to talk about it. Folks have been very tight-lipped about this. In these big national recruitments sometimes things get crazy because the player is in such demand. At the end of the day, I do believe he's going to sign with Kentucky. I do believe there has been some drama and H/T to Josh on TOS for mentioning that. Do wish I could get into it more but it has been only vaguely relayed to me that he has really considered other options late. I'm banking on Vince Marrow's long-standing relationship with Chris Vaughn winning out here.
** Kentucky needs Goodwin badly because they did have a couple of years where they won't get much from guys at tackle. They need him more long-term than for next year but there is a need. No question about that.
** Quentel Jones gets off the ball quickly and moves pretty well for a guy his size. If he had committed earlier in the process he would have been a take at most all of the schools that verbally offered. By waiting a while I think some of those options closed but he was still a take for a lot of Power Five schools in the last month of his recruitment and I think he's a solid add.
** Folks seem split on Dare Rosenthal next year. I think some believe he is still ready for that OAD track but most I've spoken with believe that once he gets feedback from NFL people it's going to be a more simple decision for him. He has 1st round, 2nd round potential but there's more work he can do. That's not my opinion, just kind of the dynamic at play between the different sets of opinions.
** Still liking Kentucky's position with DL Deone Walker. Not only was Wolford at that basketball game recently but MSU's Mel Tucker and Michigan's Steve Clinkscale were there. I think what Kentucky has done best with Walker is involve the whole staff. At Michigan for instance it has been mostly Clinkscale. More of a team effort at Kentucky. But we shall see.
** Some had mentioned to me there might be some late drama with Jordan Anthony but he told me this morning from the MS/AL game that he's "solid as a block of ice" (just hope it doesn't melt, I guess).
** Kaden Moorman's going to be a great recruiter for UK next year as others have mentioned. Very enthusiastic, very energetic.
** UK should be able to wrap things up quickly with Tayvion Robinson, whose visit will be beginning soon.
** Another big visitor arriving late Friday who I can't mention yet but your eyes will bug out when we can. Should be able to mention that tomorrow night so it won't be a wait like for the mystery high school guy.
** Ole Miss really wants Jordan Watkins. Apparently there is a weird connection there with Kiffin I'm not too sure about but according to Dave he knows Chris Vaughn and I've heard from someone who knows MS stuff well that Ole Miss really wants him.
