I may be in the minority, but after my initial disappointment of not getting Wilkerson, I think it may be for the best. If Wilkerson wanted to be "the guy" then he probably wanted to take 25 shots a game and Pope will not tolerate someone being selfish in the offense. He probably also realized that he was not going to beat out Oweh and didn't want to come off the bench. the last thing we need is a problem in the locker room over playing time. Pope may have realized this in discussions with Wilkerson over the weekend. Oh, I know some will say that he was going to start at 2 guard and Oweh was going to play small forward. That just doesn't make sense.
Oweh is 6'4' and we have Dioubate and Williams to play SF. Oweh is shooting 300 threes a day for a reason. Also, after the marked improvement in Chandler the last of the season, he may be the first off the bench at PG or SG. His % from 3 was remarkable the last few games of the season and he was shooting some of those from deep. Then there is JJ who should be very serviceable at SG as well. Like I said, after my initial disappointment, I think this may work out for the best.
